Went this week for field trip with elementary school. You guys have got to have a back up plan for when it rains. I was so sad to see teachers and all the kids get drenched and cold. We should’ve started off at the big pavilion where the entire school was able to be under to let the rain band pass. Because it was bad. You guys have got to do something about the slippery wood when it’s wet I almost slipped I don’t know how many times, that’s an accident waiting to happen that can be harmful even deadly and is preventable by simply applying strips or something to cause traction when walking. This is a cool place. Lots of gators. I was not too excited to pay five dollars for a cup of carrots. I understand we’re in a inflation right now but these are kids the carrots should’ve been given to the kids or at least charge $1. Two final things there was one girl that was given the tour I wish I would’ve gotten her name (although she is in the picture) she was very good with speaking and getting the attention of the kids however she made a joke and said now everyone jump in the water! And three kids jumped toward the gators one slipped and the fence in between kids and gator was NOT sturdy. A teacher and I pushed kids back in place. But of course I understand they’re kids but they were in the moment listening to the employee and in my opinion that’s not some thing that you say jokingly especially to a group of energetic fifth graders. Not cool. They haven’t been on a field trip in years.
On a positive note the staff there at the crocodile encounter kept their smiles on their face when the rain came down bad. Stayed in character even when all the teachers were beyond upset, one teacher was frantic with an employee because she was afraid that kids would be struck by lightning and the metal we were all...
Read moreWe have had the opportunity to get to know this place thanks to a school trip.
If I could define this place and the people who work here with a single word, I would say: Extraordinary.
First of all, we would like to thank the young ladies: Jayde, Carlie and Shelby who are an exceptional team and above all very brave women.
They have shared their knowledge through a guided tour that was full of fun jokes and interactive moments with the animals, which caused us many smiles and made us have one of the most educational and enjoyable days of our school history. The rest of the staff are extremely helpful and attentive. Everyone is very well trained to work with small children and with curious parents who want to learn together with their children (that's a plus, considering past experiences in other places where employees are not child-friendly).
The security measures are excellent, I personally was afraid when parents have mentioned to me that this place contains more than 30 different species of alligators and crocodiles, but nevertheless, we all could enjoy enormously a place very well maintained, clean and with the best measures of security, so at the same time you can witness the natural beauty of reptiles.
Surprisingly you will not only find crocodiles and alligators, the property also has giant tortoises that are outdoors waiting for you to give them a snack (snacks to feed the crocodiles, lizards and turtles are for sale at the main entrance for a decent cheap price ). Lemurs, kangaroos, piglets, snakes (non-venoms), iguanas, chameleons, antelopes as well as a wide variety of reptiles are available on the property for your...
Read moreI took my 3 YO for the guided tour, as it came highly recommended on Google reviews, but halfway through the tour, we decided to just make it a self-guided tour. Others were also talking about leaving the guided tour as they were bored. It moved slow, and the tour guides spent a lot of time talking and moving pretty quickly through everything. The only thing kiddo enjoyed was feeding the tortoises, but you were not allowed to feed directly to their mouths, and I wouldn’t have wanted to with the tiny baby carrots we purchased, but the tortoises missed a lot of the carrots kiddo dropped on the ground and kept walking. There was also another family that brought a head of lettuce from outside and were feeding the tortoises (which I don’t think is allowed but no one was there to enforce), but it drove a lot of the tortoises away from our carrots, as they were more interested in the lettuce. Also, none of the alligators/crocs seem interested in the 3 pellets we purchased for FIVE DOLLARS (for 3…)…honestly, I don’t think we will be back and would not recommend it for others with younger kiddos. It is not worth the money. Also, boards were uneven, and not all that well kept. The larger mammal area also seemed dangerous for younger/smaller kids. There was just one piece of wood there to act as a barrier. Super disappointed, as I was really excited based on...
