It was quiet out. You have to drive down a narrow county road to get to this, then down a dirt road. It felt creepy driving down the county road let alone to get there. We didn’t see or hear anything odd, but we did feel like we were being watched. My Sister had evps that were coming out with the word “Indian” in them and figures that were standing a distance from me seen through her phone that disappeared when I turned to look. We took a picture and I noticed in the photo later when I got home there was a strange figure with a face that looked like an Indian. Super strange! Nice for a day trip visit but wouldn’t recommend...

A great real world look at the history of the Hill Country. Dark and Macabre? Yes, but the placard there is in the process of being changed because the current placard is full of legend and misinformation. Mainly the names of the deceased in the hole is incorrect but rest assured there are great Texans who care deeply about the truth and are working tirelessly to right this wrong. While you’re there; Say a prayer 🙏 for those, largely unknown, whose last moments here were difficult. Pray that they allowed the Love and Forgiveness of Jesus to completely fill them before they drew their last...

Approximately 3 miles off of US 281, this historic site is off the beaten path. If you blink on the 2 lane road you'll miss the turn off. Remembering the old west and how their brand of justice was served, gives insight to how lonely & desolate this place was back in the 1800's. It's part of Texas history, not one of the better parts but history none the less. Enjoy the solitude and respect the peace of the souls that were lost here. If you have 15 minutes to spare when driving down US 281, then swing by and pay your...

I am a historical marker junkie. So obviously, I love stopping here. I wonder what this man thought when he discovered this hole. I wonder what was going through those men's heads as they were being taken to this spot to be dumped 155 feet clear to the bottom. I wonder what the history of this hole holds before it was discovered and documented. Texas has a gruesome history. Pretty erie when you sit there and think about it. Less than two miles off of hwy 281 in marble falls. Definitely worth the quick detour.

TEXAS HISTORY CAN BE BRUTRAL. A visit out to this 155-foot deep vertical cave is interesting and disturbing. This was the dumping ground for numerous murder victims. It should be approached with awe and reverence. The entrance is sealed, but I advise caution from letting small children or pets from getting too close to the vent opening.
