Nice park with 3 playgrounds, plenty of parking. Also has a pool, ball fields, covered basketball courts and fishing pond. We came to the park so our grandkids, 3 and 5, could play in the playgrounds.
The first playground is near the pool with parking and shade cover. They loved the sculptured rock animals and logs to climb on and in. A chasing game of pirates and sea monsters ensued. There is also an interesting spinning top to ride and spin. It could be dangerous if you spin too fast which is exactly what they tried to do and laughed the whole time.
Second we moved to the small standard playground near the ball fields. Also with parking and shade cover. It was perfect size for the 3 year old. They also enjoyed the baseball, glove and mini field next to the play area.
Finally we visited the climbing area near the fishing pond. It is a challenging cable climbing area. It was too hard for our little kids and would be great for older 8-10 year olds. I can imagine the fun older kids would have on this area. Unfortunately, this area is not covered and the equipment was too hot being metal and...
Read moreMy daughter and I love this place! It's great for walking or having a picnic, but we're into fishing here.
We go to the bigger Kingfisher Lake and catch Channel cats in the summer & trout in the winter. There's a smaller fishing spot, too, called Bullfrog Pond. We have had many delicious dinners thanks to this park! You can find stocking dates online. Please, have a license & follow the bag limits. It's what makes fishing possible (& fun) for everyone. Be aware game wardens DO patrol this area. I've had my fishing license, ID, equipment, and fish inspected. You'll definitely want to be in compliance! Bring your family, enjoy the great outdoors and a nice, wholesome pastime.
Besides 2 ponds to fish from, there's also public bbq pits, paved walking trails, shaded picnic benches, play areas, a pool, & game fields (soccer?). Something for everyone!
Be mindful of closing time. If you drag behind you could get locked IN. LOL, I did. 🙄 I had some serious explaining to do to the Sheriff's & Parks...
Read moreI've gone here a few times for the Neighborhood fishing stocked pond (bull frog pond). This park is a bit off the beaten path and quite a drive if you live central or in south west Austin. The pond that is stocked is quite small and the regulars know and watch the stocking dates so it definitely wasn't the nice quaint little secluded fishing experience I initially thought I'd be getting. In my head I pictured a few families, or fathers and their children, or new fishers, but it was instead mainly old long timers. They do have a little pier and I expect they stock the pond all year.
Overall it was a nice experience that would have only been nicer if there were a bit fewer people out, so I wouldn't have to worry about the guy to my right casting and crossing/tangling his...
