Gallegos Park — Attraction in Texas

My poor local park. This isn't just a review, it's a cry into the dark about how one of the greatest source of childhood memories got so under kept and neglected as time went on. For one, it is OVERRUN by lawn burweed. You so much as stumble in the walking trail, you will find yourself COVERED by these stickers. Before, they had it pretty well kept and I'm not entirely sure how. Additionally there's the unkept trees. My people of the community, this is a very SERIOUS PROBLEM. I was running on the trail one breezy day listening to my music, when I suddenly blacked out. Yes, I was hit on the head by a dead tree limb. I didn't know what was worse: the bump on the back of my head, or the fact that I was engulfed in stickers. It's right next to a public school for Pete's sake!!! Something needs to change. It tears my heart that I have to say such bad things about my local park, but I think you, the people, have the right to know what you are getting yourself into. There are areas that are well kept, but I say that with a very open mind. FINAL VERDICT: do not run here during a windy day, keep your children atleast 5 feet away from the running trail, and if you're going to go, go by the playground area or soccar fields. There are regular games here and I would think that the parks department would spend a little more time watering and spraying for mosquitos. Overall, it's usually clean and we never have trouble finding parking, but it is a little bit of a maze here. I wish the back roads were better paved as well as the lots in the back, but then people would probably speed through so it's worth the trade off to keep the way it is. Oh and thank goodness our games have Porta potties. I do not believe the park provides...

They need to start paying more attention to the skatepark it's really trashed. When they cut the "weeds" around the park they don't even sweep off the rocks that are thrown around the entire skatepark really dangerous for skateboarding which is not likely possible to roll on.
