Hagerman is one of my favorite places to go when I need to find my peace. The sunsets are breathtaking! We've spent many years riding through the "Pads" with our kids and now our grandbabies. I hope to pass on my appreciation for the beautiful scenery and wildlife. It's different everytime we visit. Even in the dead of winter it's beautiful. I love watching storms light the sky at night. There are lots of places to go for a picnic, take pictures, find some peace of mind, and make unforgettable memories. Our son who passed away loved Hagerman and visiting his favorite spots makes me feel like I'm spending time with him. That's priceless.

Great place to experience the local wildlife. Hagerman's is located on the central migratory flyway. Depending on the time of year you may be able to see rare birds. Several eagles call this place home, as well as herons, ducks, and shore birds. The snow geese and pelicans always make quite an impression when they arrive. Hiking trails, photo opportunities, and a great visitor's center make it worth the drive. The refuge is located at the southern end of the Big Mineral arm on Lake Texoma, an 88k acre lake.

The perfect place for a BioBlitz! Texas Master Naturalists, Texas Nature Trackers, and biologist Sam put on an event that makes event planning look easy. The refuge has a butterfly garden, lots of wading birds, ducks, and many different ecosystems and plant communities represented (prairie, lake, forest). The visitor center was excellent, with nice bathrooms, patio with tables/chairs and hummingbird feeder, musuem displays, and a gift shop. Will definitely come again!

We had an awesome time driving around and walking around listening and looking at the birds, butterflies, flowers & the rest of the nature. This is a great way to get outdoors, sit, walk, fish etc. Oh right before you drive into the park is a trail on the right & up the hill was the most amazing hidden field of flowers you'll see them in the pictures attached. The butterfly garden was also great by the visitor center. This is definitely a place to check out!

These pics are May 2022. Amazing wildflowers. The visitor center is gull of historical and biological information and conducts many workshops. Hagerman has self guided auto tours that are nothing less than amazing. Year round there are multitudes of birds as they travel the US Central fly zone. Be respectful and go slow...great fishing and special events as well. This place never disappoints.

Nice, well maintained hiking trails and bird watching are great things to do here. They also have free tram rides on the weekends and some presentations. Picnic areas and fishing. Visitor center is nice and clean with a nice gift shop. Snow geese are here now so lots of them to see along with many other birds; pelicans, herons, ducks and more. Short of a hidden gem. Not crowded.
