Splashway Water Park — Attraction in Columbus

We experienced a few issues during our stay at the campground cabin as well as at the waterpark but it’s the way it was handled that made me give 5 full stars. It’s not the issues that may arise but how a company handles them.

Our cabin shower broke the first night we were there. The water would not turn off. It just kept running. They had to shut our water off completely until they could find a part the next evening. We had no water but could go outside to turn it off and on if need be but definitely no hot water during that time. We had to drive to the front to take a shower. We were given a golf cart rental at no charge for the inconvenience, which we very much appreciated. You will need one here. This place is huge!

At the waterpark, we were given a cabana that was not in the area we reserved it in. We tried to make it work but It was covered in love bugs and the screen nets weren’t helping and just not ideal. When we addressed the issue, we were given an upgraded cabana at no charge in a much more convenient location.

The customer service here is amazing and the reason we did not let the issues we experienced detour us from having a good time, or returning. We will be back! I will list some pros and cons below but thank you Kendall, Matt and that nice guy at the waterpark, I think his name was Steve?

Pros: There are so many activities. We came during the fall so there was a pumpkin planting, haunted house, monster laser tag, Halloween, kid friendly movies by the water, putt putt golf, costume contests, s’mores night, all kinds of things to do! They text you with the activities for the day. The customer service is amazing! There’s a fire pit at every site, along with dishes and a full kitchen in every cabin. Dogs are allowed. There’s Christian, kid friendly music playing everywhere. Most of the staff and guests are very friendly.

Cons: the value. Almost nothing is included with the cabin rental. We paid over 600 for the weekend and the putt putt golf is extra, the waterpark is extra, the haunted house is extra, 20 per ticket, the laser tag was extra, paddle boards, extra, if you don’t have a season pass you pay a bit extra for everything. Just seems like some kind of benefits should come with the cabin rental for the price. The only thing this place is missing is a swimming hole. It was pretty hot and the only way to cool the kids down and swim is at the waterpark which of course is 30-40 per person, per day. There is a body of water for the paddle boards but there are signs saying that swimming there is “not recommended.”

2022: If you come to this campground in your RV, like we do, you will find that the price per night is a bit higher than state park prices... but after you come here, you'll never want to go anywhere else again! You get "full-hook-up" for your RV, so no worring about having to empty your septic. They also have some very beautiful cabins and larger cottages for rent. I haven't been inside one, but they are absolutely beautiful and new, from the view outside. Do not let the slightly higher price per night deter you!! If you come here even once, you will be addicted!! "Splashway RV Park" is the nicest RV park that i have ever been to, as of yet. There are SO MANY activities for children/family to do here! There is an outdoor movie every night. Set-up like an old drive-in movie, (with current movies), except everyone walks up with a chair. There are 2 HUGE outdoor inflatable bounce pads for everyone to enjoy. There are several very large, very nice play scapes. You can sign-up for lazer tag. My boys (12yrs. & 18yrs. old),LOVE playing lazer tag here. You can rent a canoe or paddle boat on their pond or go fishing (catch and release). I love the large, on-ground checkers and chess game! They have to be around 15-20 feet across. Basketball court. Volleyball courts. Trike rentals. Golf cart rental. Trails to ride your bicycle or steering-wheel-type ATV on. Tomorrow there is going to be a band on the stage.

PLUS, WATER PARK**

The water park "Splashway" is LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT TO YOU!! Play in the water park, then go "home" to your RV for lunch, then go back to playing in the water park. The entrance to the water park is about a block away from our RV spot. Grab a season pass and stay here a week! No having to rush around, trying to get to ride all the rides. Take your time and ENJOY the water park, ALL WEEK!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!

2023: We love coming to Splashway Water Park every summer!! The water park is so nice. Lines are never long, except on Saturdays. They have several huge rides, a wave-pool, lazy ricer, baby area, toddler area, pool, etc... We take the RV and stay for days... It is so nice to have an RV to stay at and go into the water park every day. We get the season passes to Splashway. The RV spots all have full hook-ups. The water at the RV park is DRINKABLE... If you go RV'ing, you know...

So today I visited Splashway. We were seasonal pass holders the year before last. I knew I LOVED the waterpark then, but I REALLY LOVE IT NOW!!!!!

First of all, I arrived just before 11. The police officer inspecting my cooler was beyond gracious. You see, I had forgotten to remove the GLASS bottle of Coca Cola made in Mexico (the best kind ever), as well as my 2 HEB GLASS bottle of their mineral water, 1877 (again, the best stuff ever). It was totally done by accident and not me trying to sneak a fast one. Carol, the lady inspecting, quickly reaches for 3 paper cups WITH LIDS. She says, "Are these screw tops?" to which I reply, "No, ma'am." I reach into my pocket to pull out my keychain which has a BOTTLE OPENER (this is why I married my husband, HA!). Carol proceeds to open all 3 containers, pour them individually into paper cups, place lids on top, helps me REORGANIZE my cooler so they'll fit, and then tells me, "God bless!"

But, wait.... THERE'S MORE! Total mom fail - my phone dies right before I walk to the front entrance. My son's buddy, whose mom bought his ticket and had texted me the barcode/proof of purchase, WAS ON MY DEAD PHONE!!!!! Both my kids received Golden Tickets from Splashway for their end of year gift from their school (how cool is that?). I teach 3rd Grade, so I took adavantage of Teacher Tuesday (HUGE DISCOUNTS for military, teachers, etc. depending on which day you go!!). So, the only ticket I purchased today was my own. But, what do I do about my phone???? Guest Services said, "What's the name under? I'll just search up the purchase from my end." Within seconds, she located his mom's purchase, printed a barcode for him to scan at the gate, and we were inside the gates. PHEW! But what about my phone?????

Problem solved, at the OTHER Guest Services location, next to Ray's Cafe and the Gift Shop, THEY used MY Charging cord, hooked up my phone, and charged it for me while I went around the park with 3 kiddos!

I'm exhausted tonight, and I need a nap tomorrow, as well as joint cream (everything on my body aches, I'm old!), but WE HAD A BLAST! I was sooooo impressed that at the end of the day, I upgraded us to Season Pass holders and WILL BE BACK next week to do it all over again. This time the phone will be...
