First id like to say the staff was really friendly and welcoming, however the rest of my experience wasn't as pleasing, when my reservations were made for the enrichment tour I didn't quite catch the name of the animal we were going hands on with so I called back within 10-15 mins from the original called and was told it was a Geoffrey's cat which is no bigger than a house cat and "to clarify the hands on" part I was told that I was not going to be able to pick up the cat and I would only be able to make contact if the cat came up to me other than that I could only play with the cat by toys and such. We then decided to cancel our reservations and told we could but would not receive a refund. When we got there we had to sign forms for liability which is understanding, however, the very last statement on said form clarified that we were NOT allowed to take pictures during our tour which was a HUGE disappointment & was also followed by the fact that we had to share our 30 minutes that we payed $100 for with 4 other people. The cat was cute but extremely energetic so the chance to touch him seemed so little not to mention it felt like we were fighting for his attention bc off everyone else in the room that we were not aware we're going to be there. The refuge employees did take pictures that we could purchase after the tour for $20 on a CD which was kinda pricey for the quality of the photos, extremely blurry and repetitive. As for the tour, do not go on a hot day because we only got to see about half the cats due to the heat which you can't blame the cats however thedon't have...

My family LOVED our visit to Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary! We went on a Thursday afternoon, and it was a private tour because we were the only family there at that time. Autumn and Madison were the BEST tour guides ever! I believe Autumn was our main tour guide, and Madison (who had been recently hired) was accompanying us as well, just to get a feel of how to conduct a tour.

Well, the tour was 10/10. It was a hot, Texas Thursday afternoon, but my family did not even mind because of how great the tour was. They showed us all of the tigers for sure, but they also have 2 lions, monkeys, tortoises, a pig, fancy rats (in the main office) and armadillos (among other very interesting animals). Autumn was patient, explaining to us how each animal arrived at the sanctuary, each animal's known history and other interesting facts about each animals. I liked that she did not merely rush us through the other animals just for us to see the tigers. You can tell Autumn and Madison are truly passionate about their work at the Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary, and they wholeheartedly care about every animal and want the best for each creature.

We would not hesitate to visit again, by the end of the tour we were absolutely fascinated and felt like we got to know each animals personally. Book a tour, you will not be...

I gave my daughter options for her 9th birthday and she chose to go to Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge and it did NOT disappoint. We drove all the way from Mason TX (5 hour trip one way) just to see these big ol kitties! Came to find out that there were other animals there that were all just as amazing as the big cats. The beautiful Raja was so active and playful that we never wanted to leave his area. We also got to hear Max the lion roar! Such a heart stopping experience in a good way. My children loved it! We didn’t do a guided tour but went on our own and ended up spending two hours just taking our time. The place is stroller friendly and even though it is hot these days, there is still plenty of shade from the big trees overhead. We loved the animals and are so glad we made the trek. We will definitely return and let everyone we know how amazing it was. The animals are well taken care of and it shows. Thank you Tiger Creek and Wildlife Refuge for making my daughter’s birthday...

We have been to Tiger Creek twice. The first time we did the guided tour, which I recommend for first-timers. Each of the cats has an interesting story about where it was rescued from. The second time we did a self-guided tour which was nice with a small child. They give you a storybook to use while you walk around, which is a nice touch. As a mom, I was concerned about safety before we went. This place is legit, and the enclosures are safe. Although some of my photos seem to be missing a fence, that is just a camera trick. It is best to go in the cooler parts of the day or in the cooler seasons. The cats are more active. Bring water, and if you have a small child, bring a stroller or wagon. There is a good bit of walking and some of it is uphill. Our 5 year old got hot and tired after a bit. The cats are beautiful and fun, and this is a great experience!

Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary is my favorite place in east Texas (other than my Nanny's house). Thanks to donations from amazing donors over the past few years, all the big cats are in large enclosures now. This was a plan/dream of theirs when I had first visited 7 years ago. It was nice to visit old friends and see some new ones. Each animal here has its own story as to why it needed a new loving safe space. Skanda was in a grumpy/talkative mood, but just as beautiful as always, it was great to see him again. 😊 Its primarily large cats like tigers, puma, cougar, lions, but their kind hearts have also taken in some other critters in need. Come get up close with some magnificent creatures and donate to a worthwhile animal sanctuary.

This was a fun outing, even in 90° temperatures. We elected to take the guided tour (no extra charge). Our guide was fun, gave us little tidbits of each animal's history, and a little about each personality. One downside was that ALL of the touring carts were out of commission. Some of the hills are a challenge, especially in high heat. If you have someone with physical challenges, call ahead to see if they have carts when you need them.
