Booked the Scenic Wilderness Cruise after finding this place when looking for things to do on Lake Buchanan. Debated between the Scenic Cruise and the Sunset Cruise, but wanted to see the actual lake, river, and hills since it was my first time. Will do the Sunset Cruise next time as they both go the same route.
Purchased tickets in advance, but you still need to check-in inside when arriving. Arrived about 15 minutes early and there was a line to board. They started to board about 10 minutes prior to departure. The boarding process was very simple and smooth. There are plenty of seats upstairs and downstairs, but most everyone opted to sit upstairs. Once the cruise started, many people walked to the front for the picture taking. It was a hot summer day, but once the boat got to the open waters, the breeze helped keep it cool.
The 2 hour cruise provided nice sights of houses, hills, wildlife, and a small waterfall. The captain did a good job of steering the ship while the tour guide provided great history and information. Nice relaxing tour to see Lake Buchanan and the Colorado River while learning...
Read moreFirst time paddling in the Lake Buchanan and Beaver Creek area. The scenery is beautiful here! The creek was dry just around the bend, but the views were still very nice, and there was plenty of wildlife to take in. Wish we'd went ahead and opted for the 4 hr trip, instead of just 2. This lake is large, and there's plenty to see. Whether you spend the whole time paddling or just rock with the waves in the middle of the water, it's super relaxing. Once the COVID-19 pandemic calms, we'd love to come back for the larger boat cruise as well!
If you're looking for a family friendly outing where you can social distance and take in some beautiful scenery, this is a great option. Everyone wore masks while loading(including the staff), but once we were on the water, we were free to let loose.
Thank you, Vanishing Texas River Cruise, for giving us a way to enjoy the outdoors again. It was a...
Read moreJuly 2022 Texas is in a drought so they views you are expecting might not be possible due to lake level. Overall it was a pleasant way to spend about 2 hours. Downstairs is air conditioned with tables, water and tea available, and a bathroom. You can bring your own beverages and snacks. Upstairs is open air and there was a musician the night we were there. The first thirty minutes or so had interesting history narrative. Then we were on our own to visit and view with occasional continued narration from guide. It was a pleasant way to spend an evening. Because the lake is low the walk to the ramp is steep and longer than usual. It may be difficult to access the boat if you are physically...
