Crawford Oaks and Trailhead is AMAZING. I swear it’s out of the Teletubbies show. The photos do not do it justice. You can hike amongst wild flowers, wild birds, creeks, and different terrains.

It could be kid friendly if you take the shorter 6 mile route. There’s an 8 mile loop. I was able to walk with basic hiking shoes on the paved first path. You do have to pay $11 if you pay online. Make sure to have a pen and paper if you don’t pay beforehand. I had to borrow pen and paper from others starting the hike to write down the parking...

Such a beautiful and unique hike! First section is a bit uphill but after that it mellows out for the most part-depending on how far you go. Lots of incredible oaks and birds, the waterfall is stunning, just be careful around the wet rocks! Saw dozens of Lewis Woodpeckers doing their thing - with red breasts and dark green wings and so many other birds. Such a great adventure. There’s even a covered shelter with picnic...

This is a leisurely hike within the Gorge and has views of the Columbia River, The Dalles, Mt. Hood, cows and beautiful wildflowers in the spring months. The larger loop from the lower lot is about 6.5 miles with about 1150 feet elevation gain. There is a lot of exposure so remember sunscreen and a hat. There are a few shady spots great for a snack break as well as a few places you can dip your toes in a...

If you start at Crawford Oaks Trailhead to the Dalles Mountain Ranch Trailhead, you’ll be walking at a steady incline almost the entire time and then downhill back. We took the straight route that was 2.5 miles up. It’s not steep, but it’s not flat. If you walk a lot and or hike, this will be easy. If you’re not someone who works out, it could be moderate to difficult. Discover Pass required!
