Update: I'm not sure when it happened, but a bird blind was added to the trail and while I'll not a birder, it's a really cool addition (see photos for details) in a really cool spot on the trail! To get to the blind, get on the trail opposite of the main trail off the parking lot (the side of the lot where you have to hop over the wire fence and hike for about a mile. You can't miss it!
This place rocks! We came out here for a walk over the long weekend and then my wife and I came out early this morning for a little pre-work hike.
I'm not sure how many miles of trails there are, but looking at the posted signs, you could probably get at least 10 miles in.
It's a beautiful, serene place with tons of nature and wildlife. And if you're a birder, this is the place for you!
You can also ride your bike out here, which I might do one of these weekends so I can see just how long of a trail system it is.
After your hike, jump in your car and hop on over to Lovebean or Levure for a coffee...
Β Β Β Read moreThis was a fun little trip! I took my niece out for a nature adventure. She fancies learning about entomology. Seeing as how I'm the only one in the family who also studied entomology, we had a great time!
The water was quite low when we were there. I don't know if that's normal? We played in the water up to my calves. She was playing with and trying to catch the minnows. We tried seeing turtles and the such, but they were quite elusive. We saw the birds, fishing and the various plants doing plant things. (Like being lush and gree near the waters edge and being dead along the trails.)
We did find a sand bar with a small pond near it. It made for a nice, shaded beard on our trek.
If you want a fun little adventure without driving too far, hop on over. The parking lot wasn't very big or occupied. The trails are good for walking and biking. Bring a picnic if you don't mind the ants(?). All 8n all I would definitely suggest this location for...

I recently visited Mitchell Natural Reserve, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Nestled in the heart of the urban landscape, this area offers an incredible natural ecosystem that feels like a hidden gem amid the city's hustle and bustle.
The lush greenery and diverse wildlife create a serene environment perfect for nature enthusiasts. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a spot to observe birds, or just a place to unwind, the park has it all.
However, a word of caution: during heavy rains, some areas may become flooded, leading to temporary road closures. It's wise to check the weather forecast and plan your visit accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
Despite this minor drawback, Mitchel Natural Reserve is a must-visit for anyone seeking a refreshing escape into nature without leaving the city. Highly...
