I was interested in this place based on what little I know about Knox. However, #1 this place was closed, even though it was a little after 10 and the website and signage said they opened at 10. #2 it's in really bad shape outside, and the house is not original. There are a few signs around the outside which we read (because the house wasn't open and nobody came out to welcome us or notice us while we walked the grounds). The signs clearly show that they have plans to expand the site. In my opinion if they want to be able to expand they need to open the museum on time every day and encourage people to spend time and money there. Read moreWe (3 of us) took a tour of the Knox Museum on Thursday, July 24, 2025, and we were fortunate to have Camden, an intern working at the museum, as our guide. Camden was a wealth of information on this 45 minute tour! Knox Museum is certainly lucky to have an intern so knowledgeable about the history of the museum as well as Thomaston, Maine.
