West Thompson Lake is a 200-acre lake in Thompson, Windham County, Connecticut. A dam was constructed in 1965 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to create the lake. It impounds the Quinebaug River for flood control and seasonal storm water management. The dam is owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers.

This is a small, family friendly campground besides a lake. Its a good and affordable option if you want to have a relaxing time. Boating and fishing is allowed in the lake, plus, there is a long but super easy hike around the lake.

Sept 2024. Our 1st walk/hike around the lake and the trail was well marked. We passed only 4 other people. Quiet peaceful trail. Free parking lot with a porta potty. Close by is a campsite, disc golf area too.

Been going here since I was a little kid, love it here. the trails are amazing, 4 hours to complete the whole loop. Great place to fish, hike and hangout.

This is a huge lake that was made by damming the Quinnebaug River. There is a boat launch for fishing or kyaking. Also there are lots of trails and is a popular place for walking dogs. Read signs because this place is used by large groups like scouts, dog trials, army drills and hunters; so some areas may be...
