This place is a bit out of the way but well worth the effort. In this area there is the largest Sitka spruce in Oregon, the Octopus Tree and the Cape Meares Lighthouse, all worth the trip. There are no open restrooms here so make sure you keep that in mind. We arrived just after a storm so the sea was cranking out some great surf and the view from the look out was spectacular. I also spotted a ton of mushrooms, which I like to photograph, but don't know enough about to consider picking. The road does need some repair and is very windy, perfect for my Subaru WRX and I greatly enjoyed the drive. The light house is small and has a gift shop inside and has fully been restored. The light house has scheduled tours that are first come first serve. Read moreBeautiful area. Beautiful views. Tours are free and hosted by OR state park staff. A very informative history lesson was given on the tour. Gift shop was nice and is housed on the ground floor of the lighthouse itself. The walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse was not very far .2 miles or so. The walk was very light and not hard to do add all. It is surrounded by lots of area, habitat, and misc fun facts. Also there are a couple other small attractions to see which are as effortless and interesting as the lighthouse itself. The park appeared to be clean and well maintained including the restroom facility's provided. It's somewhere worth...
