In June I visited Governor Printz Park for the first time in years since it has been renovated. I was very delighted to see the lovely picturesque appearance that brings new life to an old gem tucked away for many years in this little old town called Tinicum Township. It was very inviting to sit inside one of the 4 Gazebos that are placed throughout the park. The view of the water front as the boats were passing by was so relaxing as I listened to a local Jazz artist who was playing his saxophone. This is a nice place for the kids to cool off under the new sprinklers on a hot summer day or have a picnic lunch under the shady trees. I would definitely recommend adult supervision for small children with the river being so close by. There is a huge fire pit built on a concrete area inside the park which may be for fall bonfires. I even saw a small amphitheater for summer concerts situated close by the river. Several times during the summer they have vendors with delicious food and crafts to buy. This National historic landmark about Tinicum Island & Royal Governor Prince Park dating back to 1643 has some fun facts displayed throughout the park. Update 8/2021 Due to Covid and kids not yet able to be vaccinated, the splash pad is still turned off. My kids were disappointed once again but at least they could play at the playground, walk along the water and explore the rest of the park.
Update: 7/2020 Due to the Corona Virus, the Splash Pad is turned off, much to the disappointment of my two school aged kids. Hope the virus is gone by next summer so my kids can enjoy the spalsh pad again.
9/2019 The splash pad was a blast for my kids. They loved the buckets of water that would drop on them and the water that sprays up from the ground. They loved spinning the carousel of water too. There's two playgrounds right next to the splash pad, 1 is for toddlers and 1 is for older kids. We haven't explored further but we will. Wish I'd known about this place sooner than Labor day...
