Panther Creek Recreation Area — Attraction in Toccoa

I've never explored the area behind the parking (now $4) before, but there is an impressive collection of picnic spots with shelters, grills, and uncovered picnic tables along Panther Creek. Before crossing the bridge, there is a nice path for about 1/3 mile of "hiking" and saw a few guys fishing. Area was fairly clean. I have been camping on this trail since I was 14. Now, 26 years later, I take my wife and kids as often as possible. We take at least 2 trips annually to spend a long weekend enjoying the wonderful wilderness and all of it's natural glory, more if we can find time. Very nice picnic area with timber framed shelters. One even has a large fireplace! These are located behind the parking area. There are also a few picnic tables located near the creek. All are easily accessible to include small children. The creek is slow and low in that area so smaller children can play as well. Nice hiking trail on both sides...
