Named for the former canal and river town of Manhattan, and located just south of Manhattan Boulevard, this preserve is a high quality urban wetland, consisting of a mix of shallow emergent marsh and open water, ringed by woodlands, providing key habitat to numerous species of birds and other wildlife. Wildlife such as Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, American Egrets, Coots (aka "Mud Hens"), Green Herons, Black-crowned Night Herons, Painted Turtles, Red Foxes and deer can be found here.
Public access includes a 1.3 mile loop walking trail, which when fully complete will encircle the marsh and cross the west end on an elevated pier. Two wood observation decks "overlooks" are situated on the east and west ridges afford year round views.
