📍 Grinter Farms -24050 Stillwell Rd, Lawrence, KS 66044 🌻 Just 40 minutes from Kansas City, you have to check out Grinter’s Sunflower Farm in Leavenworth County this fall! 🌻 It’s become a true phenomenon—while most sunflower fields in Kansas are out west, the Grinter family opens their beautiful fields right here in the eastern part of the state for the public to enjoy. 💛 Thousands come every year for that perfect sunflower photo, and even professional photographers book sessions here. 📸 🌞 The best time to visit is on a sunny day during golden hour—early morning after sunrise or just before sunset. The fields usually peak in late August to early September, and they’re at their best for about two weeks. 🍪 Don’t miss stopping by Sunflower General, their local bake shop, for delicious baked goods (the chocolate chip cookies are a must if they have them!). The shop is open daily for the first two weeks of the bloom, and weekends after that. 📍 Leavenworth County, KS – about 40 minutes from KC! Have you been to Grinter’s yet? 🌻👇 #GrintersSunflowerFarm #KansasCityDayTrips #KCeats #KCweekend #ExploreKansas

Needing some day trip ideas? Here is a whole year of monthly day trips! [SAVE for future adventures!] All of these are around 2 hours or less from Kansas City! You can visit each of these places any time, but this calendar has some of the best times for each of them. January: Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge- See bald eagles, tons of birds, unique hikes, and beautiful views. @moconservation February: Excelsior Springs- Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Elms Spa and explore the town. @elmshotelandspa March: Arbor Day Farm- take your kids to play and chase each other around their amazing network of treehouses. @arbordayfarm April: Rock Bridge Memorial State Park- hike to the Devil’s Icebox and the Rock Bridge. You won’t be disappointed! @mostateparks May: Lawrence- Paddle and hike at Clinton Lake State Park and then head over to Mass Street for amazing food and local shops! @explorelawrence June: Olathe Splash Pad- Trust me when I say this is sooo much more than a splash pad. Your kids will be obsessed! @visitolathe July: Finger Lakes State Park- This is a series of mines that has been filled in with water to create some interesting lakes and GPS mapped waterways! @visitcolumbiamo August: Sunflowers at Grinter Farm- There is no way you can see a sea of sunflowers and not be filled with joy. @grinter_farms September: Indian Cave State Park- You can’t go wrong with miles of trails, a prehistoric cave with petroglyphs, and a ton of outdoor activities! @negameandparks October: Weston- Weston Bend State Park is my favorite place to see fall colors and the downtown is cute and fun! November: Jamesport- Visit this Amish Village’s Christmas Festival for buggy rides, antiques, crafts, food, and more! December: Powell Gardens- this is a beautiful spot all year, but it is especially magical at the Festival of Lights for Christmas! @powellgardens Did you know about all of these? Which of these do you plan to do? . . . . #daytrips #kansascity #kc #kcmo #missouri #nebraska #columbiamo s #familytravel #travel #midwestadventures #midwestwinter #midwesttravel #midwest #excelsiorsprings #lawrence

Gliding through an enchanting landscape, where vast fields of sunflowers burst forth into a mesmerizing tapestry of golden petals, is an experience that breathes life into the soul. The entrance to this idyllic sanctuary is completely free, warmly welcoming all who wish to bask in the breathtaking allure of this tranquil retreat. As you embark on a leisurely stroll, charming enclaves come into view, each adorned with delightful boutiques and whimsical shops. These hidden gems offer an array of unique treasures and mouthwatering treats that perfectly complement your journey into this wonderland.

This splendid locale beautifully captures the spirit of our cherished Sunflower State. Parking is a breeze, allowing you to approach the expansive sunflower fields with ease and anticipation. Here, the backdrop transforms into a photographer's dream, with towering sun-kissed blooms reaching dramatically toward the infinite, azure sky. For those with a spirit of adventure, I wholeheartedly urge you to venture deeper into this golden ocean of flowers. Just be sure to don sturdy shoes that are ready to traverse a little dust as you fully envelop yourself in the spellbinding beauty that surrounds you.

Breathe in every moment in this dazzling paradise! I've never encountered anything quite like it! The sheer size of that sunflower field is awe-inspiring! One can only imagine the love and meticulous care that go into nurturing such a magnificent display! It felt like a tangible ray of sunshine, radiating warmth and joy! Laughter and delight filled the air with every visitor who came to admire the splendor of this field. I believe that everyone should have the chance to experience this breathtaking sight at least once in...

What's not to love? So bright and cheerful! Had a lot of fun taking pics and going through the rows and rows of Sunflowers. The people who own this field are extremely kind to let the public come out to enjoy and take pics and even take a flower or few home (donation $1 plus per flower is recommended if you take any home, to show appreciation). We went in the evening before sunset. Best time is to get there before sunrise and within a few hours after sunrise. The flowers will face the sun and maybe even get some dewdrops to add to it. Consider the colors you wear if you want to take lots of great photos. (I read some of these tips on photographer's blogs/websites). I will try come at sunrise next year to see the difference. This was my first year. I imagine they will only be blooming for maybe another week or so. I was here a few days ago. There was ample parking across the road and fortunately not muddy. It is expected to rain so I recommend extra pair of closed shoes and plastic bag for them afterwards. It is a slightly hilly in areas, so watch your step, esp. at the edges as you get to the Sunflowers and if you have kids or elderly with you. It was also a lot of fun to go all the way to the back of the fields, deep in the jungle of flowers!. I loved the ladies in dresses, esp if they had a cute rimmed hat to go with it. There is a lot of space so most people didn't wear a mask. Lots of bugs and bees but not extreme. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart, to the family who lets people enjoy their beautiful Sunflower field. Makes me feel closer to God when I am in a...

Always a fun experience! We go annually - and it has become a popular place for photos, enjoying a free outing with the family, or just visiting for a cool experience. The family that owns the farms are fantastic and friendly....often just asking folks to donate a few bucks if they cut and take the sunflowers - I always bring some of my one dollar bills, drop off at the donation-station (which also takes Venmo!) - then mill around in what seems like a Sunflower Maze!! Bring a few shopping bags, a pair of shears (or heavy duty scissors), cut a few flowers, and enjoy! I take my flowers back to my family and classroom - my students (high school and college) LOVE seeing the 'origin' of sunflower seeds and are awestruck at how huge these brilliant flowers get! AND don't forget to drive a super short distance down the road - to stop the Bakery and Shop! Great...
