I hate to write a negative review of a state park, but here goes. Very underwhelmed by this park. Pretty trees but not much else. There are picnic tables near the parking, so it's good lunch spot for old people with limited mobility and petulant kids. The stretch along the reservoir was pretty but you could hear cars rushing by on 272. I did find a dilapidated shelter that had some interesting graffiti. "Trails" are overgrown and unmarked - no map that I could find, other than one with the park road, which is decayed asphalt. Numerous tire tracks and garbage. Unless someone can sell me on the hidden charms of this park, I feel no reason to return. And I hate saying anything bad about a park, but there it is. I've enjoyed better hikes in...
Read moreSpent alot of time here as a kid fishing,hunting,playing in the pond. There was a beach and clean picnic areas. Unfortunately the state cut funding years ago and the park fell apart. Still a great place to explore. There is an extremely high level of ticks the last time we took our dog here we didn't even go in the grass we stuck to the road and she was covered. We love to observe the beaver pond and streams and generally run circles. We've walked all the way to the highway, but that didn't feel terribly safe, there was a lot of broken glass.
