The best NYS park EVER! I hate to tell anyone that because it gets harder and harder to get sites. This is a rustic state park. It was once a cow pasture. It is NOT a RV park with parking lot style sites. Sites are grassy, rocky and hilly. They are all different sizes. The bonus is that even if you are on an interior site (not on the water) you can usually see water either the River or Goose Bay. The kayaking and fishing opportunities are plenty! The staff is the best. They are like family! I have camped at Kring Point for over 40 years. My family had camps in Kring's Mobile Park but I still camped in the the state park! I am still friends with peope I met there 35 years ago!
The bath houses have been upgraded but we are all waiting for the beach bathhouse to get it's turn. The newest bath house has full bathrooms (family style) and only six of them. This can become a problem during busy times. If people are showering you wait or drive to another bath house. Nice that it has the laundry but since I tend to camp in the region of this bath house I would have preferred a just toilet section!
There has been an uptick of rude campers in the past 5 to 10 years. Folks that do not have any park edicate. This is more a problem if you are on a water site! However, for each of the rude people you get 5 great camper neighbors that are helpful and fun. This park and area of the River is...
Read moreWe tent camped at site 38 and we reserved 2 nights. We were only able to stay 1 night as we had a medical emergency and had to go home early. God sent the most wonderful couple from Kentucky (who had just set up their camp at the site next to us) who packed up our entire campsite for us and did so VERY fast. They said helping is their spiritual gift and I so hope they see this review. My heart still bursts with gratitude for all of your help!!
We would definitely camp here again. Exploring Morgan Island was exciting. Amazing soft serve ice-cream at the Kring general store - they have everything that you may have forgotten. We enjoyed the beach and we tried to fish, but didn’t get any bites. Our sweet neighbors Brad and Linda across from us had crayfish and a dog which kept my little girl very entertained. The playground has the mulched rubber ground cover which was awesome, and great swings. We loved climbing on all the huge rocks, and had a great...
Read moreKring is a beautiful campground and the best in the 1000 island region. They have a nice sandy beach, dockage, some electric, laundry, and a nicely stocked general store outside the park. Most sites have good views of the river and/or bay. The staff is friendly too. I camped on the point at site 95. Being on a point it is windy. I had to roll up awning at 3 am one night. Neighbor's popup had the awning blow over the top. The point is rocky so we had trouble staking down a tent. There are not many trees, so shade is limited. Bathrooms & showers range from good to average. Some buildings are newer. Depends on where you are. If you're a boater, the docks are pretty easy to get in and out. They are not a maze like Keewaydin. There are some shoals when you leave Kring so its best to head straight out into the main channel. Keep to the right of the green marker in the channel and you are home free. Lake-of-the-isles is about 20 minutes away and Alex Bay is 15...
