Disappointed and upset with the treatment we received from the warden and ranger. Rude, provoking, nitpicking, and unprofessional. Singled out our group hoping to evict us. Warden told us we were too loud because of the "laughing". In a group site which accommodates up to a 100 people. If you're having several different conversations in a normal voice tone level there will be some noise correct? Supposedly The warden had a noise level complaint conveniently at 11:05 pm on both nights. Quiet hours start at 11:00 pm. Within 5 minutes of someone phoning and complaining the office they drove all the way across the park, walked to the campsite and informed us we were too loud? Impossible. It takes more than 5 minutes to drive from the office to the group site. The warden intentionally made it his agenda that night to push his weight around. Not too mention the group sites are 1.5 miles from the regular campsites and the warden said he could hear us from half way across the park. My wife stayed at the regular campsite which is 1.5 miles from the group site (I know personally because I walked it and GPS My distance) and she did not hear us. I admit there was conversations, a mini Bluetooth speaker on at about 1/3 volume but we were not disruptive in any way whatsoever. We had several young kids age 8 and younger staying at our own campsite! So we made it a point to keep the noise respectable and down. Our own kids did not wake up from the noise level. How did they hear us from half way across the park? Several cars we had also received parking citations due to lack of communication from the staff. We had to dispute the citations and supposedly they will be waited. Beach was poorly maintained, sand on beach was more like mud. Water quality in beach area is nasty and full of algae. Swim area is very shallow all the way to ropes. Regular campsites are long but very narrow. Don't expect to be able to do any activities at your campsite except for sitting around the firepit. Overpriced camping fees to pay for the nice new office building that they just built. Bathrooms were decent but group site only has one toilet per gender. One toilet to accommodate up to 100 campers? Maybe instead of building the huge office they should of invested in another vault toliet for the group sites? Bogus warden on a power trip and nothing special to see here. Pick a different location that will allow you to actually enjoy your...

My first impression driving down the drive way was that it was a fairly secluded area. We had pre booked a 3 night stay Sun-Wed. The campground area was nice, almost all the sites are designed in a way that they face away from anyone driving around the campground. The road around the campgrounds are one way so the sites are slanted away from the direction that people drive around. Our site was a challenge. It had a water source next to it that people kept walking through our site to get water. We also had a hard time in our site finding a place to put our tent as almost he whole site had gravel covering it except near the fire pit. Near our site there also was a large play area and open grassy area that was very nice for the kids. The person camping next to us did get reprimanded for having the music to loud. The ranger was rather snotty to them and said he could hear the radio four campsites away which seemed ridiculous to me as I could hardly hear it wear I was. It was also 3 in the afternoon when he was telling them to turn it off so that left me a little afraid that the Rangers were going to be overbearing during our stay. Though they never were overly friendly they did seem to take there job serious in keeping the park safe and friendly for all.

The beach area is very nice and seemed to be well taken care of. Clean sand and a large area to both swim and play. There are no showers at the beach location but there is another nice play area for kids as well as a sand volleyball court. There is also a nature area that is great for kids and has lots of information.

The hiking trails are nice and do have a lot of nice variety. Though you can't walk far before you see signs that say to stay on the trails as there is poison ivy off the trail. Actually we found poison ivy right next to the trail were you would even have to go off the trail only just have a moment of not paying attention and you would be affected.

Overall it was a pleasant place and a place we...

Lake Wissota State Park is a gorgeous park and very well maintained. The host on the other hand, not so much friendly. Within 30 seconds of us backing into our spot and getting out of the vehicle she was on use about our dogs being on a leash at all times. ( Our dogs never left our side as we got out of the vehicle). Then complains the next day that we were to loud the night before. We asked at what time were we loud and she said it doesn’t matter the time, it was just a nuisance to her AND our neighbors on the other side of us that had children.( she was located on one side of us). We spoke to our neighbors who were also up as late as (midnight) and asked if we were loud or a bother to them since they had the children, they told us we we’re not a bother and that they couldn’t hear us, we did apologize in advance before asking about being loud if that was the case. They were very nice, they also had dogs with them. We also found out before we got here she was already giving the neighbors a hard time about a sticker in the front window. It was on the passenger side instead of the driver side. The park, fantastic! The host...

Lake Wissota State Park, a man-made reservoir located in Chippewa Falls, has a lot of fun options for things to do! Several miles of trails are within the park with hiking/biking and horseback riding specific trails. There’s also a 20 mile bike trail connecting this park to Brunet Island State Park which we visited on this day trip in June! The lake is a very large 6,300 acre basin, with plenty of good fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities. Lake Wissota State Park was our 4th park visited(I’ve constructed these vids in poor order) and we would definitely return to camp and enjoy the lake! #wisconsin #statepark #nature #hiking #lakewissota

Each site has a picnic table and fire pit ring with grill. A limited number of drive though sites are available. Less than half of the sites had electricity and the non electricity sites are suitable for tent camping. Entry to site is angled so you can see into the site while parking the camper. Potable water is available at the pump out station. Electricity is pedestal mounted with four 15 amp outlets and one 30 amp outlet. The sites are separated by mature pines and Ash with dense brush under the trees. Firewood and ice are available for sale in a building near the park headquarters. Our site was gravel for camper parking and the rest is bare ground with soft areas that were probably caused by campers who didn't collect their gray water. A nice ramp at the launch area. Overhanging limbs make launching sailboats with the masts up challenging. Hiking and bicycle trails are available. The Park attendants were courteous and firewood is available from the park monitor camper when the park office is closed. Restraunt and supermarkets are less than 15 minutes away.

We stayed at Lake Wissota State Park for four days during weekdays, and it was super peaceful and very quiet. Very few dogs and little barking. Campsites are very clean and a good size. Electric hookup was the standard 15, 30 & 50 amp breaker box. The park is very large and meandering with the beach very far from most campsites, as is the boat launch. We did have one bear tick while at the park. It was caught before digging in. The main park restrooms have recently been redone and are very nice. The kids' play area is so new that the ground hasn't seeded out yet. The only negative is the almost complete lack of cellular signal on the northwest side of the park. Signal is strongest by the beach and boat landing, but there are no campsites close to that. If you have a cell phone booster, you may get a good signal. There is a lot to do in the area, including golf, shopping in Chippewa, super clubs, wineries such as Autumn Harvest, berry picking at Connell's. There are not a lot of walking trails as you'd see at other state parks, but it's a very nice park.
