Not a bad hike for experienced hikers. For people who don't want to climb a big mountain this probably isn't for you. Trails are pretty straight forward. A couple of steeper rock faces to climb but again nothing crazy! Took me an experienced hikers an hour and 40 mins. So for the average person this would probably take 2-3 hours plus the time you spend at the top. Also while I went up the top of the fire tower is closed with a lock. The road in was a back country road that took 15 mins to get in from the highway.

Short but a pretty good climb. Lots of small rocks on the trail with decent elevation gain. Really nice section of trail near the top, probably my favorite part of the hike. Fire tower cab is closed but you can get some nice views from the stairs. Our medium size dog did great on this trail, only needed to be spotted in a few places. The little guy had to ride in the pack for the steepest sections. Really enjoyed the ride in as the fall leaves on the trees on the unpaved section of road were so pretty.

Exhausting hike to the top. Rocky surfaces can be very slick and dangerous. The "1.6 miles" to the summit is elongated by the steep acension. From start to finish this hike can take about 4 hours. Don't hike hungover like I did, it was brutal punishment!

I Didn't Pop a Lung! Grueling 1.6, 20-40° trip hazard mud hike (July '22) up from the trailhead parking to fire watch tower - Windy! tower sways a little at the top - incredible 360° vista views. If they are in season, you might pick a few blueberries around the Firewatch Cabin. Gorgeous trail, all the way up and down, shady the whole way, no vista views until the very top. Year-round springs keep the trail slushy in places, bring water to drink when you get back to the parking lot - and shoes with good rubber tread you don't mind...
