The Bowery Barn — Attraction in Town of Ashippun

When my now-husband and I got engaged in December 2023, we immediately started the mad dash to plan our dream fall wedding for September! We faced the challenge of finding a location halfway between our families in Milwaukee and Madison that still captured the rustic-chic vision we had. The Bowery Barn was the perfect answer, centrally located and stunning.

We toured the property while there was still snow on the ground, but we instantly saw the potential: the gorgeous green backdrop of the ceremony site and the full, vibrant patio perfect for friends and family to mingle and play games like bags. The venue itself is everything we hoped for and more.

Throughout the planning process, The Bowery Barn and their entire team were an absolute joy to work with. Communication was always timely, and every single question we had along the way was answered clearly. Their online planning portal was incredibly easy to navigate and housed all the materials we needed. A special mention to Hannah, who served as our main point of contact. She was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, and instrumental in keeping us organized and calm—we truly couldn't have done it without her expertise!

On the wedding day itself, everything ran smoothly and beautifully. While I didn’t personally interact much with the staff, we did receive a few comments from guests that the bartenders could have been friendlier or more engaging. If you are looking for a venue that is beautiful, unique, and well-maintained. Look no further! The Bowery focuses on every single detail, and they made our wedding day so incredibly special. Dusti, Emma, and the entire team are so responsive to emails, it’s insane. They make you feel so supported and are very experienced, they know what looks good and make great recommendations. They take the guesswork out of it, which is what you want for your big day. Their portal is also incredibly easy to use and helpful. You can rent speakers, desserts stands, table numbers, whatever you need. This place is the complete package! The chandeliers inside the barn already come with greenery and there are gorgeous (not tacky) string lights. My favorite is the house that is right next to the venue. It has a gorgeous vintage feel, beautiful wood floors, and was the perfect place to get ready. The furniture inside will make for incredible photos! Everyone is so polite and ready to jump into help you from the bar staff to the onsite day-off coordinator. You are supported the entire way. They even allow dogs on the property (outside only), this was huge for our photos that will last a lifetime. The Bowery is a beautiful place to get married and they've done an amazing job getting the place setup! Unfortunately I have to give them a 3 due to the way our wedding was handled. The wedding managers were constantly pulling us away from the event and threatening our security deposit. For petty things such as people parking on the grass (which they should have posted No Parking signs on, as I'm sure our group was not the first, being that this is a country setting and the parking is limited) In addition to this we had paid for the venue until midnight but they made us clear out at 11 stating that our venders need time to clear out, but thankfully granted my an extra 15min because I, the groom, cleaned up what little decorations that I had. Please know that we were cleaned up and waiting outside for the bus from 11:30 to 12. Items to be aware of: The guest house has limited hours for getting ready and this was not clear to us from the beginning. You and your venders will all need to have insurance (which is approx $200 a day, even if you are just setting up the day before). None of your vendors including your DJ will be permitted to drink during the wedding. (Our DJ was not very happy about this.)
