This was my first time visiting, and I do plan on revisiting with my friends! We rented cabins in pairs for a few days during an unplanned cold and rainy front. This campground is beautiful and quiet, very easy to feel close to nature. It’s beautiful at night to stargaze here and it’s a great place to be with friends and connect with nature. Be aware the cabins are close to the edge of a steep drop, with about ~10 feet of space between the porch and edge. I only wish the cabins were slightly farther away!!
PROS: secluded, attentive rangers (we were given a phone number and any concern was addressed quickly, like our trash cans being full or a question), great surroundings, not too far from town for supplies besides the normal camping supplies. The cabins each have a stovetop, refrigerator, storage, 4 twin beds available, and electric. The cabins also have a bathroom on the structure, but entered from the outside. The bathroom has a toilet with a sink that is controlled by flushing the toilet, an above head pull string light, and an automatic soap dispenser. The campsite has decent (average campground) bathrooms with showers. I did not use the public restroom for anything besides showering because of the cold. ALSO gorgeous nights for stargazing. So clear, so quiet.
CONS: the cabins have no heat and no ways to get heat as there are no portable heaters allowed. We ended our trip early because of the unexpected cold, but we had packed for warmer weather. The area does have a LOT of bugs, which is to be expected so close in nature. The cabins could use a bit more sealing of cracks, but i did notice there was effort to update that! I think if these are things you adequately plan for, you would be okay! We knew these things were possible and even with the very chilly weather experienced a fair amount of bugs.
It is definitely worth a visit to see the views here of the area. If you love camping and connecting closely with nature but still having electricity, a toilet, and a stove, you would...
Read moreWhat a great place. Definitely worth it for the price we paid. A little background; we booked this place because we knew it would be a quite, relaxing weekend and it was. I highly recommend the cabins. They're set up a little weird but still huge, and they have electricity and a bathroom. There is no running water, but if you pick a site that has a drinking fountain by it, you can wash your hands at the spigot. Each cabin has a porch, which was great because it rained most of the weekend. The staff was also very friendly and willing to help out if there was a problem. The bathrooms were clean. Just a couple of cons. There isn't a ton to do at the park, just some walks/hikes and a little bit of history. I wouldn't suggest this for a week-long trip with kids but it should be fine for a day or two. There are playgrounds. For adults that just need a break, it's perfect. It is a little buggy, so be sure to pack the bug spray. I would not recommend the two electric sites, they're basically in a parking lot. This is ideally for tent/cabin campers. Also, the soda machine was broken. We will definitely...
Read moreHas some great information at the overlook, and just absolutely beautiful. I am not too sure I am fond of the swing sets, some of them have overgrown grass, some just no swings on them at all, And some are just set in some odd places. Water fountians are nice, bathrooms are clean, and showers are nice. Campsites are a bit too close but if there are other people thereit would be a bit too close for my comfort. They are all cleaned up with a garbage can at each camp site. The site we wanted was already reserved, but they never showed up untill 9:30 at night, check in is at 3.. I'm sorry but I do believe it was a bit rude as I personally do not like headlights shining in my eyes, bc they are backing their camper into the site. I thought there was supposed to be a cut off time to prevent this from happening. Besides the disrepectfulness of other, the campground itself it nice. One thing that I didn't get was there was no sign for the Indian village. As that's the most interesting part...
