What a pleasant surprise it was to discover “The Knitting Room” In WINDHAM, NY. The shop is comfortable and warm with lovely yarn displayed on all the walls. They have all the materials you need to complete a project and the women who work there have the knowledge to help you resolve any problems you may have.
A few months ago, while organizing my basement, I found a partially finished Afghan stored in a secure plastic box. Upon further examination I discovered that most of the directions for completing this treasure were in a 1977 issue of “Woman’s Day”, however I did not have complete directions or the additional yarn I needed. I enlisted some friends to locate substitute yarn, and one of them told me about The Knitting Room. I called to schedule an appointment.
A young woman named Ziary analyzed what remained to do to complete the project, including crochet directions and substitute materials. We sat at a table and Ziary wrote the directions for me and showed me how to do them.

WOW! We happened upon The Knitting Room when my family was looking for an arts or crafts workshop or class around Woodstock on a rainy day.
We were SO happy we gave them a call and they were able to accommodate us last-minute for a “Hat in a Day” knitting class. May was an amazing teacher and an amazing person — we enjoyed not just her instruction, but also learning about her as a person. And her business partner Zairi was just as warm and welcoming… and a talented barista to boot!
