A nice and easy hiking with a perfect view. Perfect spot to watch the sunset. Just get some extra clothes, is always very windy. In a clear day you can see Albany. There is two parking lots, one that gives you only the road as a option to get to the tower, and another, near to the lake, that gives you a option to hiking in the woods. A good hiking to go in a family with little ones and pets. Is permit camping.

This state forest in Austerlitz, NY has everything you could want. Plenty of parking, ponds, clearly marked hiking 🥾 trails, lean to with fire 🔥 pit and mega views from the top of a mountain & fire tower. We hiked up the blue trail and down the red trail in about an hour 😃🇺🇸🥳. Prolly a place Napoleon would like to call home 🤪🤣

About 0.5 miles in to the fire tower, making this a not too bad hike for those who are not used to doing much hiking. Beautiful views from the tower, although it is currently closed off for repair. Hopefully will reopen soon.

Beautiful and wild. The trails are broad and well traveled, but have the feeling of being in the deep woods. The fire tower is cool and there are neat bridges, ponds, cabins, and (amazingly) a cemetery(!) to add interest.

Unfortunately the firetower is still closed until further notice. Portion of the sheet metal roof has been damaged. No updates but disappointed to not have seen any summer progress.

Nice short trail. Little parking in the area however. A fire tower at the end to climb up to some amazing views. Not too steep and not too tiring of a trail.
