The Beebe Hill Fire Tower in the Beebe Hill State Forest is a nice hike. The hike takes to the summit of Beebe Hill where a sixty foot high fire tower provides scenic views of the surrounding area. The hike is moderately challenging. From the parking area follow the blue marked trail over a small bridge. You will then arrive at the trail register. From here follow the red marked trail straight ahead to the tower. On this trail you will cross an old stone wall in a fern filled forest. After the stone wall you will pass by a large glacial boulder. The next landmark is a lean-to on your left. After the lean-to you have a short walk to the fire tower. Once you arrive near the fire tower you will see a ranger's cabin. Proceed to the fire tower after seeing the cabin. You will need to climb the sixty foot fire tower in order to see the surrounding countryside. The tower looks like it has been rebuilt or reconstructed recently. Interestingly, enough the fire tower has been rebuilt at least 3 times and actually been on other mountains nearby including nearby Washburn Mountain. Once you get into the cap of the fire tower, you will be able to enjoy the views. Altogether, the hike to the fire tower is 1 mile up and 1 mile back. On the hike better signage for the fire tower should be considered. There are several herd paths and other red marked trails in the area while there is no sign for the fire tower. This leads to confusion for what should be a simple hike. The parking area for this is hike is small and only fits about 5 vehicles. There is a pond nearby. If you follow the path by the pond there is also a historic cemetery nearby. There are also other marked hiking trails in the area. This is a nice short hike that leads to great views from...
Read moreI did the tower trail, took me 45 mins round trip. It's a pretty consistent slope up, a decent hike but not terribly challenging. The fire tower was a great view! I would have stayed longer but heard thunder just after taking some selfies and noticing that I was on a tall lightning rod. There's a lean to near the tower, but the nearby pond was dry, so don't plan to refill there. Would go again for a short hike w...
Read moreA nice and easy hiking with a perfect view. Perfect spot to watch the sunset. Just get some extra clothes, is always very windy. In a clear day you can see Albany. There is two parking lots, one that gives you only the road as a option to get to the tower, and another, near to the lake, that gives you a option to hiking in the woods. A good hiking to go in a family with little ones and pets. Is...
