Went with my family and had a blast and a lot of fun. I saw people of all races and ethnicities so it was really nice to be somewhere diverse and see all different types of families together. I saw swans!!! We got to feed them bread and they were so hungry but friendly. We also saw a handful of ducks when we were walking in the forest trail. There were pretty butterflies fluttering around. The lake was beautiful and the forest trail I took a walk in was amazing too. I felt at peace with nature and I was satisfied and happy being with everyone. There were two playgrounds and a bunch of swings I got to be on and my baby brother especially loved it. There were so many little kids and babies all enjoying their childhood and running around by playing and being youthful. That made me happy too. I liked how the two playgrounds were each different so it could be suited for little toddlers or babies while the other one is for older kids. We also got to enjoy icecream so I am glad the icecream trucks were there for the entire time. I loved how big and open the whole park was and that I was able to walk for long distances which allowed me to be very active. It was kept clean and there were two sets of bathrooms that had plenty of stalls. Most were clean. Regarding the park, I felt connected with nature. When we were coming back, I saw the beautiful sunset just shining its beauty on all of the trees. It all felt wholesome and warmed my heart. For a couple moments, I was grateful to be alive and be able to experience all of these things and realized how amazing the natural earth is. It made me love and appreciate Long Island for its environment and kind people. Everyone at the park was nice and minded their business. There were a great deal of benches to rest and chill on as well as BBQs. A cool feature is that it had paddling boats to ride on but unfortunately, my family was not able to do that but if we ever come back, I hope we do because it...
Read moreSpent the afternoon at Belmont Lake State Park with my family and had a really lovely time. It’s such a beautiful spot with well-maintained walking trails that are perfect for all ages. We especially appreciated the many shaded areas, it made a big difference on a hot day. The lake itself is gorgeous, and they offer small pedal boats you can rent, which was a fun and peaceful way to enjoy the water.
There’s a surprising amount of wildlife (ducks, etc). We saw plenty of families there, some hosting gatherings at the many picnic spots and open spaces, and the playground is great for kids. The area I visited was big, clean, and well-equipped. There were also many large fields that are perfect for playing sports. Additionally, if ice cream trucks are something you are interested in, there was one stationed by the playground when I arrived.
The only downside was the bathroom, which was honestly in rough shape. The floor was slippery and it didn’t seem like it had been cleaned in a while, which was a bit disappointing for such a beautiful park.
That said, Belmont Lake is still a gem. Whether you’re walking, boating, or just relaxing under the trees, it’s a great place to spend time outdoors with family. I definitely...
Read moreNice park, no major complaints. I think if we came again on a sunnier day, we would give it 5 stars. Here’s our run-down of pros and cons!
Pros: Happy and fun people all around. Lots of families and bbqs happening. Super similar to Bethpage State Park. We really enjoyed watching the swans in the lake and dog watching around the trails! They have paddle boats which look super fun, but they closed by the time we go there- maybe next time. There were swans and ducklings which were precious to see! There are tails to run/walk/bike too! We didn’t stay long enough to hike because we had been in a rush but more the reason to come back!
Cons: The bathrooms were really gross, wet sticky floors and humid icky smell, although, perhaps it was because it was around 6pm on a cloudier day. The lake looks man-made :( - I thought it was real! Correct if wrong?!?
Overall, Belmont is a lovely park wonderful for families, couples, dogs, kids, fitness, and activity! Our one recommendation? Be sure to come on a sunny day, more in the...
