I recommend parking in the North parking lot, hiking this trail, see the Devil’s Doorway, see the Balanced Rock, go around the lake, and then go home. This trail is a great one. It’s not to hard and is not that long as it looks on the map. You need to be able to read maps because at the end of the trail or when it splits off in two ways, you will only have a map to tell you where to go which can be a little confusing at first. It’s a great place for kids although if you want to bring a dog here he or she has to be experienced and good on a leash. Also on this trail you will see the Elephant Rock.

Good trail with some nice scenic views, as well as some interesting sections of rock formations. There is a lot of old broken asphalt making up a lot of this trail, which negatively affected the hike for me. Annoying and ugly. Trail is otherwise clean and maintained. Well-marked and easy to follow. There is an entrance fee for this park, $16 for out of state visitors in 2022. Trail was moderately busy on a Thursday afternoon in May. I suspect this trail gets quite crowded on weekends and summer days.

What a beautiful trail. As suggested in other reviews, we took the right fork which goes up along the rock cliffs near the lake. Such beautiful views and great exercise! Going this way from the trailhead means hitting it all uphill instead of down. If you want to see the beauty with less effort I suggest taking the loop to the left and circling back and going down the lake side coming back. We thoroughly enjoyed the workout, though. So many spots to stop and take in the beauty.

Starting from the north side will take you up the east bluff on a gentle slope. When you reach the other side of the bluff you can take a left to go to devil's doorway, and the double back if you want to take the stairs down the cliff by balanced rock: or continue on to the potholes trail to see the geological formations or to the CCC trail for the easiest way down the cliff on the south side; alternatively you can double back on the other clifftop trail as the east bluff does not have a lakeside trail to get back. So you will either need to finish going around the lake, or turn around to return to...
