The trail is officially called the Lakeshore Trail in the Mainland Unit. It follows the shore from Meyers Beach toward Sand Point, becoming fainter beyond the cliffs above the sea caves. There are numerous lookouts above the cliffs.

The hike has the best visibility in late fall and winter. In early winter, ice forms along the cliffs from splashing waves and dripping water, providing scenic views. The weather, waves, and drifting ice provide a changing scenery all winter. Large ice packs can blow in for days or weeks at a time, or the water can be open through the coldest of days.

While the opportunity to walk on the Lake is irregular and completely unreliable, this trail is a gem and always available for nice scenery. The open views from the high cliff areas are worth the hike, and every visit will provide something new to see.

The trail has some rugged sections through several ravines. In winter, it is usually well-packed, but can also get icy. It is about 2 miles to the views from the Meyers...

Decent out and back (1.8 miles each way) hike to the crevasse. Very easy trek, even after the boardwalk ends. Minimal incline and very dog friendly. In terms of views and beauty, we felt the scenery/greenery during the hike was much more impressive than the crevasse area itself. Parking fee (via honor box) is $5, with a 50% discount for Access Pass holders. Definitely a good idea to pay this as there were NPS officers patrolling the area upon our return from the trail. Access to Meyers Beach is right by the trailhead. The wavy and murky water wasn't the most inviting...

Nice hike on a well maintained trail until it's not..

The first mile or so is on an elaborate elevated board trail. Eventually you hit the dirt and have some great elevated lake views. Once you hike to "The Bowl" as they were calling it. There is a UW webcam for a nature study, this is a good place to turn around. I continued all the way to the Campsite. After the UW webcam, the trail stays mostly in the trees and is much less traveled and can become quite rough (Trees down, plants jutting out, ect.)

Still worth the...

Beautiful Trail and scenery. Be aware that not all of the observation areas have fencing around the edges and there’s a 100 yard warning from walking up the the edge of the bluffs. It took us about 2.45 minutes to complete with six adults and one dog, which is manageable if you are will to step off the trail to let others pass in the narrow areas.
