The land and the waterfalls are absolutely beautiful. The trail was well maintained overall and pretty easy to walk on.
The only reason for my 4-star rating is what I feel to be overly restrictive hours as to when they are open. Starting on September 15th I believe it was, the trail and Parking Lot close at 5 p.m.
The first time we came to see these Falls we made the drive there without realizing they had extremely strict hours and did not have enough time to walk up and see the falls.
They have an automatic gate on their parking lot and a sign which states the gate closes at 5 p.m. and if you are in the parking lot at that time you will be trapped and you will have to call the city and pay a minimum of a $100 fine to be let out.
I fully understand not wanting people to hang out on the property all night, but in mid-september 5 p.m. is a full two hours prior to Sunset.
It's definitely worth seeing and enjoying these Falls, just make sure to keep in mind the...
Read moreWhat an incredible walk! It would have taken me approximately 40 minutes round trip IF I wouldn't have stopped to ogle the cavelike sandstone structures. The waterfall was man-made and was NOT running today, so it didn't get 5 stars. The walk is on private land and there are signs asking you to stay on the trail, and the trails were 50% walking on wide boards. Easy to follow. Small parking lot, fits 10 to 12 cars/trucks, no bathrooms and no garbage cans. The walk ends up at an outcropping of red rocks right on Lake Superior. You can actually go swimming from there! Some roots are sticking out of the grounds, so watch your step. There are stairs walking down to 3 different places, but you don't have to go down them to stay on the trail. A great trail to walk in autumn when the trees...
Read moreThis place is absolutely beautiful! What a gorgeous landscape. Very pleasant walk, with a well made trail that looks like they're making even better. A small, winding creek with small waterfalls, great rock formations through a really nice forest that finally empties in Lake Superior. A few markers telling some of the history of the place, but feels like it could use more. A map at the end of the trail would be nice, so you could see what towns you were looking at across the lake. Maybe a shelter with picnic tables and a couple grills would be nice too.
If your going by GPS, it's the second road, the first leads to...
