My favorite place for a quick 2-3 miles after work and before sunset. The red and yellow loops are a good workout with a nice variety of landscapes. Decent elevation changes get the blood following. Great way to destress after a long day. I like ending my hike at the Hawk lookout. Great views and nice breeze. Just don’t forget the bug spray.

What a gem of a preserve. We did the red trail loop. Recommend start going up Butler loop and go anticlockwise, and finish at the birdwatch station. Beautiful terrain of modest difficulty and surprisingly varied vegetation and rock formations.

For the most part trails were marked well but we did get lost for a little while trying to find the trail again. Not sure if it was from the recent rain or what. The hike itself was beautiful and only required moderate exertion at some parts.

This is a good place to get some exercise and take in some lovely views. If you want a more leisurely stroll, take the red trail. Although it is hilly, the slopes are more gradual than the other trails. The yellow trail features a steep, zig-zagging descent into the valley. The blue trail also features steep hills, so it's good for more vigorous exercise. The northern leg of the orange trail becomes quite overgrown with thorny plants as you go deeper into the park, so don't choose that trail unless you're wearing thick clothing. The sanctuary hasn't been too crowded when I've been there, even on weekends....

Awesome place to hike and unwind for a few hours. The terrain becomes quite steep in spots which is nice if you want a more challenging hike. The trails are well marked and clear of brush. The park is very well maintained for its size. The lake is also very scenic with a good amount of open space around it. It is not usually that crowded since it's in a quieter part of NY. Therefore it's an ideal place to get away from the...

Nice variety of terrain and trails for a good local hike. No street view of the parking area using Google maps, but I’ve gotten them to move the marker to the actual location. Small pkg lot, located on opposite side of Rte 684 once you traverse the overpass. Westmoreland Sanctuary is on opposite side of highway, smaller and less trails,...
