I stopped here on a long road trip and Connor recommend it enough. It was great and absolutely beautiful all you could want on a little break for a road trip or even picnic spot. There’s nice history with explanations, bench’s and paths for short or long walks. It’s beautiful grassy area with flowers. What more could you want? I loved it and am so glad I stopped.

It's a smaller place with a lot of character. A few too many corn fields but even that can be fun as you walk around them. There's also the old derelict Matz Family Homestead that is more rubble than house. It's a great place to snap some pics. Indian Lake County Park is right across the street, so there is plenty of hiking and beautiful scenery to take it in.

Combination area of a hunting area, historical site, hiking trails, and county parks. It’s a nice variety of Prairie and wooded area with a lot to offer for the outdoors type. The abandoned homestead is an interesting point to visit, and there is a bit of history to read on public placards. Limited gravel parking, paved parking in the county park.

An awesome place with a truly American past, offering an open hiking area and old original structures. If planing on hiking it's always a good idea to bring plenty of water, that being said I would also say a hat and bug spray. There's not much shade for some of the hiking, however there is some benches with a bit more tree coverage. Last but not least the bugs (mostly mosquitos) are in force as there is a water...

You can park on the lot at Indian Lake then take the NEW trail under Highway 19 to the site or park in a small lot at the Matz ruins. Another great running trail. You go through a small prairie, up the slope to Matz road. Follow the troad left and go along the ridge, up several hills then down again which will take you back to Highway 19 and loop back to the parking lot. All...
