Nice park, its 5 dollars a person to enter from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It has a swimming area with lifeguards, a large grassy lawn, picnic tables and grills and a volleyball net. There is also a small jungle gym for kids and a boat ramp to put small non motorized boats in the water. Theres a lot of parking here as well. There are also restrooms which were clean, with showers and a drinking water fountain.
You can rent boats for 8 dollars an hour until 4 pm on weekdays and 5 pm on weekends during the summer season. They have one and two person kayacks, canoes, rowboats, and pedalboats. The lake is large and beautiful to explore by boat and the staff at the boathouse were friendly and helpful. Numerous birds are flying around the far shores and I even saw a bald eagle here. The swimming area is a small sandy beach, that seems a bit too small for all the people using it on a busy summer day, but that is the only minor negative. It only goes about 5 feet deep as well.
If you plan in spending a day here to swim, boat, picnic, or just hang out its definately worth it. If you want to just stop for 10 minutes to look at a lake and take a picture then there are a lot of other places you can do...
Read moreNicely maintained state park with a boat launch, swimming beach and picnic areas on Dr Duggan Rd. Lake Superior is one of the best flat-water paddling places in Sullivan County. The entire shoreline is park land, so it's very green and natural. Only electric motor boats are permitted, as well as any paddled boats of course. The ramp is concrete and includes a dock, so is suitable for hand- and trailer-launched boats. Staff here recently carved out and mowed trails connecting the fields and woods on both sides of the road. These trails and the picnic area in the south part of the park are free year round, but the swimming beach charges for parking during the summer (check the park website for the exact dates). There is long, unmarked but clear trail along the park's southwestern edge starting at Indian Field Rd, where you can park on the roadside. This trail borders a hunting club, so be sure to respect their property and wear blaze orange if visiting in dear...
Read moreThis place was very disappointing. They have roped off a beautiful lake into a 30ft × 20ft swimming area which was quite crowded. If you have very young children and don't want to watch them yourself, a good dog would be able to save them in this tiny area of allowed wading. Why even have lifeguards? I don't think the water inside the roped area was deeper that three feet. For I guy who grew up swimming in the ocean, where lifeguards let you go thirty yards out into a roaring surf because they know they can save you, this swimming area felt ridiculously claustrophobic and overly protective. I tried to leave and was told there were no refunds. Although listed as a state park they do not accept the Empire Pass and charge $15 per car. This is a must skip. Don't...
