Swinging Bridge Reservoir — Attraction in Town of Bethel

Swinging Bridge is my favourite place in the world. We come here every summer without fail and it truly is heaven on earth. The boaters and jet skiers all respect one another so you don’t have to worry about people driving recklessly. We’ve spent hours lazing around in the sun with our loved ones anchored down near the reservoir swimming around, and just as many hours on the beautiful beach that you can sail or drive to. I’m assuming drive anyways, there were a couple guys on dune buggies last time we were there.

All of my fondest memories are here, being a passenger on the back of my new fiancé’s jet ski, driving said jet ski myself for the first time, meeting some of the families that live on the lake year round and being able to call them my very best friends.

Sometimes the water level can be pretty low, from the sounds of it whoever manages the reservoir lets too much water out and it causes some issues with some of the families that live there year round, from my understanding. But I’ve never known this affect us, we just launch the boats and ski’s from further down is all.

I love this place with all my heart, it’s the first place I came when we had just got engaged so maybe I have rose tinted glasses, but I could stay there forever and never get bored. You can spend all day watching eagles fishing and nesting, listen to their mating calls and see them fly with their mates. You can spend your time fishing, jet skiing, boating, sunbathing, swimming off the docks, partying. You really can do it all. We once went up in the dead of winter, and seeing it frozen over was amazing. I’ll never forget the noise of the ice creaking and groaning. Seeing as I’m from a country that doesn’t have such big frozen lakes, it was truly a sight to behold. This place will always be special to me, I really do recommend making your own fond...

I really enjoyed visiting this place! I was there in the winter on a rainy day - it was quiet, clean, and peaceful. I parked there overnight with my RV, right next to the river. It was such a great experience! The location is calm and beautiful with easy access to the water, giving us the perfect sense of relaxation we were looking for.
