New York Power Authority Blenheim-Gilboa Visitor Center — Attraction in Town of Blenheim

We were looking for a site for a school-wide field trip and contacted the staff here to see what was possible. Not only did they accommodate our entire school, but they also helped us plan our entire visit. Lansing Manor is also available for your students or family to take a step back in time and enjoy a tour.

They were even so kind as to arrange a hike from the Visitor Center to the nearby Mine Kill State Park for our lunch!

You might think it strange to give a power station a 5-star destination rating, but you would be wrong. Situated on the former estate of the early American politician, John Lansing Jr, the NYPA, has beautifully restored the home and out buildings he built circa 1819, for his daughter and son-im-law. The staff and exhibits at the New York Power Authority Blenheim-Gilboa Visitor's Center are wonderful. The overview film gave a good introduction to this hidden treasure. In addition to the interactive electricity and hydropower exhibits, they set up old-fashioned games for us to play. Our group also took a step back in time and toured the Lansing Manor.
