I'm disappointed in the integrity of the owners of this place. We drove out there over the weekend to buy their advertised 5-pound basket of berries. When we got home and portioned out the berries for freezing, it turned out that we received only 4 pounds, 2 ounces of berries. (Shame on me for not bringing our kitchen scale.)
I contacted them to see what they could do to make up for shorting me and they said that baskets contained different weights of product. (Isn't weighing 5 pounds a fairly easy measurement, regardless of the basket size?) To make up for it, they offered to weigh out the missing 14 ounces for me if I was willing to make the 40-minute round trip to their place. I let them know that it wasn't worth the trip for that and they pretty much said, "Oh well, whatever."
I'm sure they have loyal customers that just love their business. I'll probably never be one of them.
Update: So they responded to my review, but never bothered to address why they don't actually weigh their baskets when charging folks for five pounds, then try to deflect by blaming COVID, like that's part of the reason they shorted me. My review stands. Don't assume that you're getting what you pay...
Read moreOne of the only U-Pick farms in WNY where you can find black raspberries!! In my mind, that makes it a gem. Staff at the farm stand are always super friendly and polite; they make you feel welcome. Very reasonable prices for U-Pick, anywhere from $3.75 to $5 per quart, depending on the type of berry you're picking. In addition to selling already-picked berries, the farm stand also offers an assortment of maple and other farm products, berries by the bag (suitable for freezing), and they even have their own little café serving sundaes, milkshakes, hot dogs, etc. I'm a little disappointed in the black raspberry crop this year; they are not very plentiful. However, that probably has more to do with weather. I'm not going to hold it against the farm. I'm glad to have found Awald Farms. I enjoy coming here. Bonus: the drive to get here is beautiful, especially on a warm and sunny summer day! From Buffalo, avoid I-90 and take the 219 to Boston instead, then follow your way along country backroads. You won't regret taking the...
