Visiting the thrift shop on 9/3/2022 for the first time in this town that Iāve lived in for 20 years, I was happy to see the vast amount of great quality items it had to offer. Although, my experience with a particular volunteer was quite distasteful. I walked in by myself and started looking through the collection. I had passed a brown haired woman sitting then a blonde hair woman that was organizing items. A few minutes later, my 2 sisters arrived. They were immediately greeted by the woman with brown hair, handed a bag to fill, and informed about summer sale. My sister asked why I didnāt have a bag, I said I didnāt know what was going on. We gathered our items which the cost was $10 coat, $20 coat, 3 $1 items and a $6 bag of clothes. Neither me or my sisters had cash, so I left to go to an ATM. I came back to pay and was quoted $57 by the brunette and paid her. I walked out, realized something was not right and went back. The blonde woman re-tallied the items I bought to $39 and was super helpful in helping me realize I was overcharged. The blonde woman said to the brunette why did you overcharge her to which the brunette said and I quote āit was only $20ā. Nothing after that. I was so flabbergasted but grateful the blonde woman had my back, I just took my $18 change and left. I have lived in Manorville for 20 years. I am worried that this woman holds the money in a Fanny pack around her waist that goes into the functionality and development of The Manorville Historical Society as a āvolunteerā. This lady is definitely paying herself on the side. I also want to mention that after the fact, my sister (who is a half black woman that can pass as white) informed me that when I (a full black woman) left to go to the ATM, she heard the brunette say āI donāt want to seem racistā and stopped speaking when she saw my sister was near. This was very distasteful and she should absolutely be ashamed to call herself...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCASH ONLY This place is cash only so if you're planning to go make sure to bring cash. My first time going was absolutely amazing I found a winter jacket and a few men's t-shirts which I was in need of, for an upcoming trip (very warm) Second time; I noticed the overall selection of clothes men's and women's was significantly worse than my previous visit of brand's that you can find at cheap department stores, did find a few items that I was pleased of. I asked about if they had more clothes the man told me "All clothing you see is what we got check back next week for more stuff, my wife handpicks the clothes to be sold," Third time; Same exact clothing from last time nothing new, decided to look through the massive pile of CD, DVD's, and PC games that were still there from the first time I was there over a year ago. Bought 4 PC games which the lady wanted $6, I know that's not a lot but those things been sitting there forever, and some were priced for $0.25 she finally let me buy all 4 for $3 after I negotiated and she complained they got expenses to cover. FYI it's better if you sell each for $0.25 so you can get rid of the large amount of CD's that keep growing (doesn't cost you anything since...

A worthwhile stop if you're in the neighborhood. There is a knowledgeable and friendly staff of volunteers. There also is a eclectic mix thrift store in the basement that supports the...
