Only 40 public boat launches at any on time.I have been coming to this part for the last 60 years. A lot has changed in 60 years. This park is still very popular for charcoal grilling picnicking and large family gatherings. there's a very nice sand beach. The boat launching ramp and docks are excellent. I really believe they could make a little bit more room for the jet skis without much too much sacrifice. Just seems like there's no political will. Seems the goose population has been controlled in recent years. the water quality is fine, it's Brown's lake. Popular for fishing in the morning the fishing boaters come early. they pull out and next the recreational boaters come late morning. only 40 public launches are allowed at a time. the lake is under the jurisdiction of the city of Burlington. they do police the boating on the lake. The park is also home to the Burlington aqueduct which used to have a water ski show on Sunday but I believe practice is Wednesday and the show is on Thursdays now. The old Racine county park ranger Brad made a career out of managing this park. He's done an excellent job. Unfortunate the county does not seem fit to continue with a traditional park management. I believe it's all contracted out now. not the same thing. Local legend tells that Brad was spit out of the ground actually found on the park grounds and he's been there his entire life teaching youth about park management; supervising the local youth; giving them summer jobs. Brad's work supervising the youth for the last 40 years is a priceless benefit to the County and the local area. those are things the bean counters don't count when they're looking at park management. We forget the old intrinsic values of the way we did things. They used to have open to the sky changing rooms with showers once you enclose things then it requires bleaching the floor and things like that they built the new concession stand in the early years they would have vendors come in every year. And more recent years I think they had difficulty staffing it however it seems like the air conditioners are running for 440 -7.24$ I'm kind of out of touch with how things have been going recently but I think the huge expenditure on the building maybe did not pay the big dividends. I'm happy that the county is still staffing lifeguards apparently. we're still making use of the park even though I have only been there once a year for the last 5 years... Seems like this review must be past at least 200...
Read moreSurprisingly warm water for a beach. You can go right in without your body figuratively screaming "NO, too cold!". It has a pier and lifeguards, and is a great place to bring small ones. (Humans, not sure about pets.) When we went, there was some renovation being done on the main building, so the only bathrooms are portapotties right now. The sand is good enough for sand castles, but not great. (Clay can be found under the sand pretty quickly.) The community was nice and it seems like a nice place to meet fellow beachgoers. The fish on the other hand are sometimes mean; more than one member of my family said a fish bit them. The water was clear enough to barely see the fish before they disappeared among the sandy bottom...
Read moreThe two girls at the front were very kind and allowed my SA into the park. The younger maintenance guys came over arguing with me saying that no dogs were allowed regardless if they are ESA or SA because there is signs posted that dogs aren't allowed and "they dont make the rules". The two younger maintence guys argued with us for 5mins saying "people lie and no dogs are allowed with or without proof of being a ESA/SA" even when I offered proof they denied to look at it saying I didn't have proof, then sped off on their golf cart almost flipping it. The kind girls reassured us that my SA was welcome but we asked for a...
