My home temple,(30 years this Summer) beautiful and relaxing. Meditation goers a MUST.( If I am on grounds I will joyfully give a guieded tour.) However I run a healing practice myself so here is a decent run down.. Add that to google searching i.e. "Whos Quan Lin ??" and you can have a decent enough understanding. Maderian ( and Cantonese) are the grounds main languages. I promise you you are welcomed. If you see a special event going on thats not really public i.e. a Funeral or Wedding please be respectful. Okay so the buildings: This Temple Houses not only the tripple Buddah (Main building) ,but there are also the Dragon Temple (rememberance) at the end of the drive) the Jade pagoda (tower) ,the Arahat hall, temple of good luck, and a temple of Quan Lin. Also on the premises is a beautiful crypt, the island of Buddah (landscaped island for viewing only). ,A wonderful temple garden (always looking for volunteers to help) two ponds one loaded with Koi and giant ,and I do mean Giant Carp. There are many freestanding Buddahs' as well. They serve a vegan lunch (please call for availability , a small donation IF you can is asked), if not just let them know that you are interested in lunch when you get there. Absolutely worth the trip and it's free. Leashed non-agresive dogs are welcomed. NOTE* TEMPLE CAT ON PREMISIS. And please ask to see the gift...
Read moreThere unfortunately aren’t many good chinese temples in the states at all. This one has more ground and feels a bit more like an actual temple than the ones in the city. But the buildings aren’t built right or maintained well, and it feels like a knockoff temple. This temple was built by the Ying family and they have a place (in modern western style, which seems out of place) for their family tomb. The worst thing is that the monk we met at the main building only cared about money. We went to get a fortune (there are English ones that’s 1 dollar each) and he told us there were ones for chinese speakers. We did the fortune how they are supposed to be traditionally (that part was good) and the monk came to explain (he did a very unprofessional job) and asked for donation. When we tried to put the money in the donation box, he told us to give to him directly and he pocketed the money himself. Also, he kept mentioning giving money to him throughout our conversation. It really seemed like he cared about nothing but money. This is not really a spiritual place, but a place for desires it seems like. I’d recommend going to other temples for wisdom, blessing and teachings.
If you want to get lunch there, they do serve vegetarian food 12-3pm on weekends and 12-2pm on weekdays. Better call on...
Read moreNice Buddhist temple. Lot of parents and family to celebrate lunar new year or should I say start new year with a temple visit. Pretty clean despite the snow, damp weather. Lovely Asian architecture. Different buildings had different Buddha’s. Love the incense stick and lamp offering. The veg simple lunch was nice with a herbal tea. Lot of fruits and flowers as offering. Quiet peaceful ambiance. The rest rooms are too close to the main idol which felt inappropriate. Some People went in wo removing shoes was disrespectful. They should offer flip flops so people needing foot support can...
