A new vineyard in Cambridge area. We had a tasting of two whites and three reds...actually five reds as the owners let us taste a Concord (not theirs but actually from the Finger Lakes) and another red, Laporte, they hadn't yet bottled, so that came right from the barrel. The Dionne white was just perfect: light, dry (but not too dry), and floated in your mouth like a cloud. The Dionne Blanc, while dry tasted slightly sweet though it was a dry wine! Amazing. Even the driest of the reds, the Frontenac, was very tasty and did not pucker the mouth. A lot of similar reds I've tasted from other vineyards are way too tannin-y, but not this one. My wife is not a lover of red wines but she loved all these. (I think the Marquette would be marvelous paired with a rare steak or a bolognese.) We've been to quite a few tastings at vineyards all over--we like to stay at Harvest Host vineyards in our van--and this has been our favorite. It would be tough to best this one. We ended up purchasing the Dionne and the Laporte, which they bottled for...
Read moreWe weren't sure what we were walking into at first. South Dominion is tucked away in a nice private location surrounded by natures beauty. You are greeted by Vance and Sean the absolutely wonderful couple who owns the vineyard. Its a very happy fun loving atmosphere with these two and you can tell they put time and love into everything they do to make the wine tasting a great experience. Very knowledgeable as they share stories of the grapes and histories of how they picked which grapes to grow and use in their wines.
Every wine we tried was delightful to the pallet. I tried 4 reds and two whites. Leaving with two bottles of red one of the Dionne and one of Dionne 18. Smooth, beautifully aromatic and pleasantly flavorful. They have wines for both the dry and sweet lovers out there!
10/10 would highly recommend visiting this winery for not only the Great Wines but for the...

I particularly enjoyed reading their brochure on the history of the area and walking through the vineyard to see the old cabin and the breathtaking view. We did the wine tastings and purchased a bottle to drink there and one for home - excellent wine. We will certainly...
