I had an amazing afternoon here today. It is so serene and I was the only one there. The trails go through a variety of environments and there are easy, medium and difficult hikes. The overlook of Honeoye Lake is beyond breathtaking. There were many unique species to see...make sure you look all around you! I highly recommend this area for anyone.

Please be aware that even with a map, following trails is tricky at times. I made sure I always knew where the road was...and where the lake was in relation to where I was. That...

Quite friendly state receration area. Very few visitors at any given time. The main roadway inside the receration area is wide and gravel covered. Great for taking the puppy for a walk. There are many hiking / biking trails to escape on. The majority of the recreation area is on top of the hill which offers great views of Honeoye Lake from the south. Clean restrooms at both ends of the roadway and always clean! Be respectful and keep it that way. While venturing on the hiking trails keep your eyes open for all sorts of critters...

Excellent place to go cross country skiing for free since the trails are groomed and maintained by the Rochester XC Ski Foundation. Good range of trail difficulty levels and enough route options that it doesn't get old.

It's also a good point for snowmobiles to access a large network of trails (almost all separate from the ski trails except for the main road). This is good news for snowmobilers, I suppose, but bad news for the rest of us who prefer to enjoy the woods without the smells and sounds of...

Trails are mostly for ATV/Bikes/Snowmobiles, but are pleasant to walk. Hilly and rocky terrain so be prepared with proper footwear. Large area's, could not find trail maps. Trailhead near road with large parking lot or take the dirt/gravel road next to parking all the way to the end where it loops and has a public bathroom. Other trails you'll pass as you head to the loop.
