Having visited the winery many times and felt strongly, without question one of the best wines in the region, our viewpoint has changed. Last summer a 2017 purchased bottle of Frontenac had been opened and sour. Of course this happens, so on our next visit, Cape was generous enough to provide another bottle at no charge, advising they had issues with their corks. Yesterday, we opened again a bottle of Frontenac, this time the bottle only sat (properly) for 8 months from purchase. Tainted, sour, kicked. Now having known others who have experienced the same thing, we are not so sure we will return to purchase wine from Cape Winery. The location, the staff, the atmosphere is amazing! More importantly, their wine is extraordinary, however no sense making it if the means to reserve are lousy at best. I would absolutely recommend this winery to anyone visiting the area! Three of them had poorly corked bottles and the wine was rancid, so we just got to spend at least $50 on drain cleaner.
