We hadn't been to this lighthouse but we are glad that we visited it, since being in Cape Vincent, NY for a day trip drive. The lighthouse itself and the two other houses on the property seem to be very well maintained, from the outside, as you can not tour through any of the buildings or the lighthouse, except for the base of the lighthouse. There is a long range telescope, that is mounted on a elevated deck behind the lighthouse, that for a quarter, you can view other lighthouses and scenic landmarks across the water. There is a gift shop/historic information center, but wasn't open when we visited. If your looking for something to do and happen to be in Cape Vincent, NY come and see...

The original bulb was built by French engineers to refract the light at multiple levels using oil lanterns. The Corning glass company in NYS was unable to recreate the bulb thats how one of a kind it was. You can tour the inside of the main building read about it in the museum or even use the scope to view other light houses from the point the museum worker is ex air force and extremely well educated on the history! If your a history buff like me tbis gem is free and full of...
Read moreThis park is very small but the view is amazing! It has a small parking lot accommodating about 10 cars. It was very windy when I was there, but not sure if it is always like that. I loved the sound of the waves crashing into the rocks. There are a few benches where you can sit facing the water and enjoy the view. The water is pretty clean. I enjoyed driving to the lighthouse after entering the neighborhood. The road to the lighthouse separates the homes facing the water and the water. It is worth the drive. I had my dogs with me and I didn't go into any of the buildings. There was a wedding there...
