Croton Falls Dam — Attraction in Town of Carmel

Beautiful place. Nice for a quiet walk. Unfortunately the dam itself it off-limits to walk on. I don't know why that is, since it's the only DEP dam in Westchester/the entire NYC water system that is off limits. It may seem easy enough to just walk on, as the gate is just to block cars and it is open on both sides, but beware, because the DEP regularly patrol this area and will be more than happy to write you an ECL trespass ticket for walking on it- they write several every day and don't let anyone off the hook.
