Unique old school mountain bike trail network. I drove from Minnesota and rode them after a very wet week. Being old school trails, they're fine to ride after a half day of sunshine. While I did see a flow trail from the road, the core system has some small berms, roots, fast downhills and endless fast/technical rock gardens that allow you to bomb through wet sections. I felt like I took a time machine back to simpler times. My two complaints are: #1 their is 0 signage. Instead the trails are labeled with small number plates stuck to random trees. This would be fine if they put them at trail intersections but instead they're stuck to trees 50 yards past ithe crossing half the time. In 6 miles I stopped 10 times to pull my phone out to check the Singletracks Map. Which brings me to complaint #2. If you're not going to label trails someone should probably update the Singletracks and Trailforks apps. On a positive note... In 6 miles I ascended 1600 feet according to Strava. It felt like maybe 400. While it definitely felt like I descended 1600 feet. Kudos to the trail designers for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a pretty decent hiking trail.
Candor doesnāt have a whole lot to do so honestly this place is one of the best things in the area to do. The trails are in good condition and the foliage is pretty. I only hiked about a mile or so and there wasnāt anything photo-worthy IMO but it was still a pleasant hike.
There are many trails to choose from with the shortest of them being probably 20+ minutes to do and the longest being over an hour.
There is a good sized parking lot and it also appears to be mountain bike friendly.
PSA: They did find a body here a few days ago (killed in Ithaca and dumped here) so maybe donāt go hiking alone or at night. To be fair, the odds of something actually happening here are probably quite low. Although this area has had sighting of bears, mountain lions, and bobcats so itās always best to be prepared...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad read about the great mountain biking in the park, so decided to take my family. We travelled a bit of distance for it. When we got there, there was no signs or other indications to guide you to a parking lot. We ended up crossing the park on a little gravel road, where we came across a worker that guided us to a parking lot. Which was located right next to an area that looked like a scene from Deliverance. The parking lot was deserted with not a single sign indicating where the trails were. We didn't feel safe leaving our RV with all our belongings there. We ended up leaving unable to enjoy. If it's going to be advertised as the place to mountain bike, I wish they would at least put a...
