We had booked a walk in campsite for 4 days and only ended up staying half of the time. Although the view is breathtaking, and the campsite is extremely quiet & peaceful, this is NOT the place to stay - especially if you are traveling more than an hour.

Bugs: The bugs were frustrating to deal with, (the mosquitoes were not horrible with bug spray), but the flies were irritating and would not go away no matter what we tried.

Snakes: There are snakes in which we found in the men/women's nicer bathrooms.

Mice: Lastly, as soon as it becomes dusk and the sunlight goes down. Don't be alarmed when you see mice scattering all throughout your site - and they are not afraid to come up nice and personal. Not only that, they would climb our tent when we were trying to sleep. How disgusting!

Train: This doesn't bug me as much, but there is a railroad track just below the campsite and the trains will come through all day and night.

The park itself can be explored in less than an hour, so make sure you have other things planned. Potosi Brewing company is near by, the Cassville pool, and the Wyalusing Beach are a few things near!

We love camping, and we're looking forward to this site. Once again, it has an amazing view. However, if you have a far drive, it is not worth coming all this way. This was just not the right fit for us despite how beautiful it is!

Good things: You can fit an 8 person tent in the walk in site, amazing view, grate on fire place, close walk to bathrooms, lots of privacy, extremely quiet, wood...

Gorgeous place to go when the fall colors are starting to peak! We had a great time camping there with family on a family site. Some things to keep in mind. Be ready to work at leveling your camper. This is an average small state park campground with above average views. Smaller campsites that aren't the most level, but what can you expect being on top of a ridge top. We were the biggest unit up there at 36 feet long and (slide outs on both sided) 13.5 wide. We had to do some creative maneuvering and blocking to make it fit on our site but we got it in there. Bring lots of blocking. Some sites here are definitely pop up and tent size sites. Some backing in and down a slight slope. This isn't really a big rig, 40ft toy hauler, 5th wheel campground. Not saying that you can't, just say you're going to work for it if you do and some of those turns are very tight. Still we still had...

🏕️The Most Beautiful Campsite in Wisconsin! 📍Nelson Dewey State Park Nelson Dewey State Park is located on top of a 50-foot bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, so the campsites have absolutely spectacular views! There's also a ton of picturesque hiking trails that wind along the tops of the bluffs. (And if you're like me you'll have a slight panic attack while hiking when you hear that Rattlesnakes are known for living on these bluffs. ) Pro Tip- Not all campsites are created equal: Campsites A, B, C & D are walk-in sites where you park a little ways away and carry all your gear in. (They even provide you with a wheelbarrow to use!) These 4 campsites are the ones with the most spectacular views of the Mississippi River so make sure to grab one of them! We’re the @midwestmunchers We’re just over here livin our best Midwesty life with our three pups in a tiny Wisconsin town. Follow us for more Midwest food & travel!

Absolutely beautiful views of the river with lots of lovely prairie flowers in bloom! I was there on a weekday afternoon, so I pretty much had the whole park and trails to myself. I'd give it 5 stars, but it's just so small and after you do the 2 mile trail there's nothing left to see or do unless you have a campsite to sit around the fire. There's some sort of historical village across from the entrance but I didn't go as there were at least 15 cara in the lot and the whole point of my weekday hike was because I didn't wanna deal with people! Lol! If you live in the area, definitely go! Totally worth it. If you are driving in like me, just be sure you have plans for other stops as you can experience the whole park in less than an hour.
