This marsh is a wetland of international importance, recognized around the world, home to hundreds of bird species (incl endangered species). You can hike or take a boat ride on the marsh, drive the federal scenic route, walk the boardwalk, visit the exploreum in the state section, or the Marsh Haven Nature Center across the street from the federal scenic drive. Visiting at different times in the seasons and times of day will reveal different species each time.
We heard whooping cranes, have seen pelicans, osprey, and countless other birds. Some folks have complained they didn't see or do much.
