We're on a cross country road trip in our Vandoit and I'm on a mission to mountain bike in every state we visit. After leaving Madison we stopped here to ride the mountain bike trails based on a recommendation. The trails were fun, fast and flowy. A good mix of crushed double track, green, blue and black singletrack with some fun features and jump lines. The trails offer something for everyone from beginner riders to advanced riders. There wasn't a lot of elevation which is typical for Midwest trail systems. Maps and signage are posted at almost every trail intersection which is clutch when you're riding a trail system for the first time. The county charges $8 for a mountain bike permit with self pay kiosks at the trailheads. You can also purchase an annual pass if you're local. I assume this helps maintain the trails as they are well groomed and maintained. I visited on a Thursday morning and despite the maintenance crew mowing the lawn, I only saw 1 other mountain biker and 4 pedestrians in the 3 hours I spent there. Nearby Cambridge is a quaint town with some good eateries for pre or post...

Went up to Cambridge today. Spent 15 minutes driving around bcus we spelled the name wrong! A friend recommended it. Actually so easy to get here...just go Left around the lake.

Then BAM! Beautiful snowy trails...a couple of miles along the creek...bumpy little side trails if you like more foresty side.(i do).or a straight shot down Cannonball Run if you like something open and easy to go.

There are miles of bike trails here...but you can easily avoid them Or walk on the sides to keep bike tracks open

One thing...not a lot of wildlife, and is not as isolated as I enjoy..this is a relatively small area with houses visible up on the hill. But great for a winter...

Great mountain bike trails, geared to the beginner/intermediate rider though there is a small jump line and a few more technical areas. As this is a county Park it does require a county trail pass $16 for the year, looks to include xc-ski as well though good for all Dane county parks trails. We'll maintained by CORP, Capitol Off-Road Pathfinders, an IMBA affiliate club. You can check trail open/closed status and trail work days via their website or Facebook. They also post information for the other area Mountain Bike Trails they are stewats of including some city and state...

We went with another couple to do some kayaking. It was a beautiful setting and the creek is very picturesque. The only problem was the many trees that had fallen over, into the water and the fact that there has been no rain for a while, so the water level was quite low. It took a little more work than normal, but we learned more about how to handle the kayaks. This is our first season kayaking, so we have a lot to learn!😊
