I'd have to give Vintage 4/10 for their big games. If you're expecting to travel or attempt to play a "big game" I would not recommend this one. Let's begin with pricing. For non season pass holders price wasn't too bad if you preregistered. $19.99 for entry and $68 per case of paint if you ordered it ahead of time. If you don't pre-register, you have to pay $30 for entry which still isn't bad, BUT they upcharge their paint to $88 a case after tax which is absolutely insane. I've been to many a field and I've never had to pay close to $90 for a case of 2000 paint balls. Now let's talk about their "professional paint" labeled box. You'd think for $88 a case, this must be the best paint you'll ever shoot. WRONG. After playing paintball for 8+ years, you come to know the difference between good and bad paint. This field buy's their paint from an unknown source and claims on their packaging that it has "max breaking", "max accuracy", and "max fill color". The number of bounces I would get on myself and other players was unbelievable, and this was at a 300 FPS limit field. Now let's talk about staffing. The guys that run the on field pro shop and the windows did a great job. However, the referees were terrible. I understand that this isn't going to be a job that most people care about, but if you're getting paid please seem like your actually doing something within your job criteria. Almost every referee that I saw on the field was standing outside of the boundary lines not checking anyone for hits. This allows cheating behavior and makes it look like the field harbors this kind of play. I guarantee that during "speedball" tournament time they make sure their referees are amazing which is sad for the regular casual player that likes to come to these types of big events. Another point I'd like the make is their lack of attention to properly provide basic necessities for this type of event. They advertise that they have a couple hundred people at these big events and yet they only supply the field with "ONE" porta potty. They also advertise that they will provide some free food to all the players at half time. They did provide some food, but not nearly enough for even half the players that attended. Lastly let's talk about the field. The field is decent and the last time I came here a few years a ago they ran every field that they advertised. This year, They remove a big chunk of the field that was "advertised", and made it unplayable. It's really sad because it made the field more fun and gave more options for players. What makes it even worse is that they most definitely had the field set up for a "speedball" tournament the weekend before, yet they refused to keep it for their big game event even though they advertised that it was in play. With all of this, I don't believe I will be playing at this field for sometime again. They might be okay for the regular open play or private group style paintball, but they are ill suited for big events. Their website advertises that this event is good for "new players", but I don't recommend this to be anyone's first time out. Take what you want from this review, not everyone will agree with what is said here and I understand that. Try their big events at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me just start by saying the price, and game play arent really that bad, a little pricey but thats the nature of paintball. It just seems they tack on just a little extra, as they should for such a great course with the amenities they offer in comparison, I was a little disappointed in the refs and there explanations of game play, this usually isnt an issue for most that have played but that seemed to be the talk of most people before during and after game play, leaving objective, win/loss and overall rules very unclear to both side. It had even got to a point where the refs were unsure of the rules they had set for more then a few games.
You would think the buck would sorta stop right here but you would be wrong. Where im most disappointed is within the repair shop, im nearly $180 into a repair on a fully mechanical marker that was specifically designed for ease of repair called an autocock. Albeit they can be fairly complicated once modified mine was completely stock, so when I asked if this (older model but still semi current) marker was going to be an issue for their team and was given reassurance it wasn't going to be an issue to clean and get the marker working again I felt I was in good hands. I felt the "we will call you with an update in 24hours" was lofty at best. 3 days later I gave em a call just to discuss exactly what I had wanted and to perhaps get an idea at what to expect price wise. It was very very clear that this moment they had zero clue what it was going to take even on an estimate basis and almost just expected a blank check for the work. They were seemingly reluctant but had understood my respectable but loose $300 limit before needing any further contact. Again id like to note not once was i expecting to get this marker back in any hurry. So fast forward another 4 days to a phonecall id receive saying both of my high and low pressure regulators needed to be rebuilt and they were incapable of doing the work themselves and it would have to be sent out. Yet again I wasn't even remotely given a estimate of cost, time, the current condition or if this was even my issue. At this time they are expecting $30 to look at the gun and check it in, (totally respectable and understandable) and another $150 to clean the trigger speculate that I need both HPR and LPR rebuilt. This is where I get very very disappointed. A few orings and some tube plus labor to get a marker running at $180 seems a little pricey but still kinda fair untill you figure in the fact that anyone that knows anything about these markers would have checked the LPR and HPR with a tank first thing. Its these discrepancy's alone that make make me wish I had never gone this route.
So I guess the ultimate question is would I ever play here again? The answer is honestly no. The course is awesome, the refs need some guidelines or more experience. The shop did great with getting people checked in and ready but the repair shop/reg shop failed to accurately describe there process, experience and the ability of their team all at the cost of their customers. Its these few things that just make them fall into a category of great options but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA group of friends and I do a private game every months so we decided to check out Vintage Paintball for the first time. If it was legit, we plan on coming here monthly.
We booked a private game and due to the weather, there were a couple accidents along the way to get to the field which caused us to be 8 mins late. When I checked in, the girl working there told us that since we are 8 mins late, we forfeited our deposit.
I explained to her our traffic situation and the response I got was that it was part of their policy (Which was no where to be found on their website until you get there). So we had 2 choices, we can either turn around and go home since we just got rob $80 or we can pay full price and still pay. Granted half of my team was there before the arrange time, but they wouldn't let them check in unless majority of the team is present.
We were pissed, but we still ended up playing anyways. Our referee was great but was pretty new to Vintage so he didn't explain to the new players that if a balls hits you and it doesn't break you are still in. Also the rental markers are horrible. They were the Tippman Custom 98 that was in very horrible shape. There were no safety on them and they have never been cleaned. One of the new players on my team kept breaking paint and instead of switching it out with a different marker, they would just wipe it down and tell him that it works now. Then it would happen again during mid game. **This is not a good place to introduce new players to paintball.
On the plus side of Vintage, we really like the courses. They are right next to each other so you don't have to walk a long distance just to play.
Overall: Some of the staff just as the girl working does not seem friendly and is hard to approach if you need something.
Walk-on plays might be fine, but if you do book a private game, make sure THE WHOLE TEAM shows up at least 15-30 mins early, otherwise you will lose your deposit even if you are 1 min late . They are money hungry and they don't care about your reasons.
Due to this bad policy and customer service, we will be spending our money back at Spat Tag instead of Vintage.
Things to improve on if Vintage is reading this:
Train your staff to be more friendly, good customer service is what brings people back to your field.
Get rid of that late/tardy policy for private games or at least have a buffer of like 15 mins after the schedule time before you take someone's deposit. We can't control the traffic.
(update 05/2018) I still don't see your updated private policy and rules on your website so it's hard to convince 20 players to come back to your field for private games since they been...
