I've been camping here every year for the past 12 years. I stay a week and enjoy the beach, trails and company of other campers. The sites are not on top of each other and have plenty of trees between each site. The beach is okay but not great because of dead plants washing in. The bathrooms are usually clean and the showers are if you catch them at the right time. There is a nice boat launching area. We have our family reunion there every year because of a nice pavilion. There are 2 children playgrounds, one by the beach area the other by the non elec. loops, d&e. You have to take your own garbage out to the dumpsters located near check in booth . There are 2 dump stations and 2 fresh water near them. And fresh water spickets throughout the campground. Negative about the grounds are that they may post a site will take a 30 or 40 foot camper but it's tight and a job getting into some. I'd ask someone that knows the campground or check them out yourself before booking to be sure you can get your camper in. If you have trouble there is usually someone close by to spot or even back it in. Don't be afraid or to proud to ask, it's better that damaging your camper or truck and...
Read moreI have been camping here my whole life and I've never had a sandy site; you need to do your research before you reserve a site. The lack of trees is due to a massive ice storm years ago but there are new ones growing now. Even then, the sites are isolated and big. I never feel trapped here or smothered by nearby campers. In addition, everyone here is super nice. The rangers are friendly and thorough. Our neighbors have been very kind this trip and everyone respects the quiet at 10pm rule. Fishing here is okay; I definitely recommend bringing a boat. We took our canoe down the river and caught some bass and perch. The hiking trails are well maintained and full of wildlife. While on the Beaver Pond Trail, we saw a deer and a beaver. (Not bad for a 1 mile trail) The Overlook Trail was beautiful as well.
The people complaining in the review section are just sour. I can't imagine coming to this beautiful park and not enjoying at least some aspect of it. Higley Flow State Park is perfect for families, friends, and...
Read moreIt has a really beautiful and fun. I nice place to go. When my sister and I went there, we had trouble with some of the staff. There is a place where technically you weren’t supposed to go, no one told us and there were no signs. There was a big sign that said no boats allowed to be beaches but there were beached boats on the shore. Staff rudely interrupted my sister and I’s picnic, told us “this isn’t going to work, not right now, go” we thought this was a covid rule but there was a party boat down the shore with at least 8-10 people who obviously had not been staying together, it was like 3 different couples and some kids. My sister and I left, and at the booth we asked for an explanation and the lady just said that it wasn’t lifeguarded so they didn’t want people there. It’s reasonable that they asked us to leave but, the staff was so rude and they didn’t provide an explanation as to why the big party was allowed there, and they told us we had to go, they didn’t say we could go back...
