I recently rode on this train ride and it was quite neat, and very scenic. I did see in someone's review that their kid got a splinter, but looking at the Facebook it seems as though the car might have been only mostly finished at the time, as when I rode the car that was being used had varnish on all of the wood and it was sanded smooth. I did ask the man running the operation about the "concrete in the boiler" thing, as that is obviously very concerning. He said that the steam dome had to keep the rubber plugs they put it from getting blown down into the boiler. The inspection bolts were out on the boiler and I even got to look inside the boiler itself (not just at the tubes, but inside the pressure vessel itself, which was quite nice of him). Not only is there apparently no concrete within the boiler itself, but the inspection bolts and drain plug are never installed, so there is no way that any pressure could build up within the boiler itself. I guess that only the steam dome needs to pressurized in order to move, so they just separated the steam dome from the boiler. Overall quite a nice experience, although it is clear that they are currently working on completing a second car and finishing the steam locomotive's conversion, I think he said something about having to redo the oiling system or...
Read moreIt was a very pleasant experience. Not a fast moving train ride but very relaxing and enjoyable. The seating in the wicker chair passenger car was a little off with the seats facing away from the window. It seemed pointless because now your scenic view is obstructed by the people sitting straight across from you. This was not a good floor plan for the chairs because half the time you are turning your head sideways to look out the window which makes it far from a comfortable ride. A few of us decided to turn our chairs because of this and the conductor didnt seem to mind which was good. My neck was getting stiff. The train cars though are really beautiful. We went at night for the full moon ride so we didnt get to see much of the views but they jad the qoods lit up in segments with scarecrows hanging up. The clearings by the creek were nice. Was well lit by the moon. I also like the fact that you can bring your own food and drink onboard and have a little dinner or snack with family. There were a few ladies there celebrating the night we went. They had thier picnic basket and Whiteclaws. All in all it was a very nice time and i will def go back for a ride earlier in the day to catch some...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience for young and old alike! My husband and I surprised our 9 year old granddaughter with her first train ride! Ben the owner, who wears many hats, and his employee (I'm sorry I can't remember his name) did a fantastic job. My granddaughter immediately made a friend with a boy her own age. Thanks to Ben they were hands on throughout our excursion through the wetlands. Putting the passengers to work: The kids blew the whistles, got off the train and worked together waving flags as the train prepared to cross over a small back road, worked together as junior conductors gathering and punching everyone's tickets, taking turns using our granddaughter's bubble gun as the train carried us along on a memorable journey through the woods. Definitely a...
